    I have the same problem except that when I go to dxdiag, I don't see anything about sound, no devices, no drivers, and everything is grayed out
    I also don't have the original CDs
    it's the same Intel audio driver

    I couldn't find anything in downloads; can someone help me?

    hi, so to solve this problem you can try using aida32, it will give you the reference of the sound chip, then you click on the sound chip, then on chipset, then you will copy the reference of the audio control type and you will type it on Google and download it, and good luck.

    Salut, désolé pour le dérangement mais j'ai un petit problème, c'est que quand j'ai formaté le PC, je n'ai plus de son.

    J'ai installé Aida 32 et j'ai trouvé que la référence est Intel 82801DB.

    Est-ce qu'il y a une solution pour ça ? Aidez-moi s'il vous plaît.

      Salut, je n'ai pas de son sur mon ordinateur. J'ai essayé de télécharger AC97, mais après l'avoir rallumé, il me dit que l'ordi a rencontré une énorme erreur et que ça vient du logiciel AC97. Donc si tu connais un autre logiciel comme ça,

    but when I install it, it responds with "driver not found, restart the PC and run the installation program again"

      Well, well, well, I had the same problem as you and I fixed it by doing this: first, you download HD Audio... and install it (the installation should work): http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

      then, you download your sound driver (AC 97): http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

      after, you want to install it but it will say there was a problem, so you tell it to stop. then you go to the control panel, go to add hardware (if it's in classic mode) (and also not printers and other devices, and on the right side you will see add hardware) click on it. next, yes I've already connected..., next, and in the list the last one being add a new... click on it, next, and select install the hardware that I select..., next, in the list choose audio, video and games, next and now in the list you will see ...AC 97 select and next and now select yes this time, next and then I believe it will do it by itself or also, choose to search and install automatically... and now it should work

        It's completely stupid to start by trying to install an HD sound driver when we're talking about AC'97 sound.
        Besides, you don't seem to know that there are other brands of sound cards besides Realtek.

        Not to mention the style and spelling.

      It is important to know that the indication Intel 82801DB(m) ICH4(-M) -AC'97 does not represent the name of a sound card but rather those of the chipset it is installed on and the specification it complies with.

      It is essential to know the brand and sometimes the model of this card in order to download the driver.
      Examples of brands: Realtek, Sigmatel, VIA, Analog Devices, C-Media, Creative, .....

      If it's a branded PC: by visiting the support section of the manufacturer's website, you can find both the brand and model of the sound card and the link to download the driver.
      The same goes for the motherboard manufacturer if it's not a branded PC.

      Some prefer to go to touslesdrivers.com.

    Hi everyone,

    I got a work PC (a real rocket). At first, the sound was working, but one day it just stopped! I have a big ? and a ! in yellow on my multimedia audio controller. I ran several diagnostic and/or hardware detection software. Thanks to that, I was able to download several drivers, but every time I installed them, it crashed my PC: it shuts down and restarts, and then immediately shuts down again to restart, and so on until I uninstall the driver!
    If I provide the results from software like AIDA32, can someone indicate the right driver that won't cause my PC to reboot constantly, please?
