If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root first and cannot be run by non-trusted users first).

So when I choose my movie it shows me:

Well, I tried all the outputs proposed by VLC and it didn't change anything. So I just restored everything to default.

I didn't quite understand the question, but I'll try to answer as best as I can.
So, at first I followed the recommended command above, but it didn't work because my hard drive is called My Passport ==> that's its name, so knowing that I needed to use quotes, I preferred to go directly into my hard drive, so the path I'm in is:

user@user-laptop:/media/My Passport/Mon_nom/Film$
and when I'm in my prompt, I type:

vlc 3000.avi

why don't you just try simply:

another question: if I understand correctly, your movies are on a hard drive, right?

... have you considered the fact that maybe your user does not have access to the HDD ...

So the command you're suggesting gives me this message:

Failed to read the file:
VLC could not open the file "Passport/Mon_nom/Film/3000.avi".
Your input media cannot be opened:
VLC cannot open 'PassPort/Mon_nom/Film/3000.avi'. Check the messages for more details.

And otherwise, how do we "set permissions" on my hard drive?
I've never set permissions, and I just installed Linux, so I have no idea how to do this, I'm a noob at Linux ^
