Automatic opening linked Excel cell

Hello,

I have an issue with Excel, I'm on a new computer and I can't find an old setting.

On the old one, when I double-clicked on a cell that linked to another sheet or file, I would directly access the cell from which the initial cell was derived, which is handy for quickly navigating through different files.

On the new one, double-clicking only allows me to edit the cell.

I remember there is a setting to change, but I can't find it anywhere.

Can someone help me???

Thanks!

(I'm interested in info for Excel 2003 and 2007)
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello,

I think in Excel 2003 it's in the Tools/Options menu in the "Editing" tab where you need to uncheck the "Direct editing" box.

In Excel 2007, it's by clicking on the Office button then the Excel Options button.

See you soon

Precision for Excel 2007, after clicking on the Office button, select Excel Options (at the bottom right of the dropdown menu), then Advanced Options, and under the Editing Options heading, you must indeed uncheck the box "Direct Editing".

Hello,
Thank you Pilas31. Still relevant for Excel 2016.
File, Options, Advanced options => uncheck direct editing.
