Thomson remote control issue

Hello,
I hope I'm asking my question in the right place.
I did some research online (especially on this site http://www.audiovideosupport.eu/index.php where I couldn't find any information) and on this same forum before coming to ask my question, but I couldn't solve my problem, so I'm opening a new topic.

I was given a Thomson life TV (combination TV-VCR in silver-grey) not long ago, and the remote control (which is called Thomson RCV100S navilight system) has become uncontrollable.
I think I must have pressed a button by mistake that would have misconfigured it.
That said, at first it was unresponsive.
Then it responded to the buttons we pressed, but in a whimsical way (for example, when I press a channel, it displays the teletext). I pressed almost all the buttons, then
while trying to unlock it, I feel like I activated a particular option since a red light on the TV is blinking: underneath the opening to insert a cassette, between the "timer" and "standby" buttons. But nothing particular was triggered, so I don't really know what it's for.

At the moment, it doesn't respond to any buttons. So, I bought a universal remote but since I don’t have a manual, I couldn’t figure out how to configure it.

Does anyone have either:

- the codes or a manual to reset or unblock the TV remote (Thomson RCV100S navilight system).

or

- the codes to set up the new universal remote with my TV

or

- the steps to set up a universal remote (the manual is very vague and nothing happens as indicated)

or

- good advice to help me get either remote working.

I want to specify that I don't have a video cassette, so I don't necessarily want to make the included VCR work.

Thank you very much for reading, and thanks in advance if you have any advice to give me.

P.S.: I’m trying to insert a photo of the remote control in this message; I don't know if it will work:

Good evening,
to be able to help you, please write down here the exact reference of your TV (exact model), the manufacturer, and the model of the remote control you were given with the TV or those of your universal remote control.

P.S: the link to the photo is not working : (

Good evening, thank you for your response. I would like to note the exact reference of my TV, but I don't know where it would be listed since I don't have the manual and I have given you all the elements inscribed on it.

It says: Thomson Life, and apart from the flap for inserting a video cassette, I don't see any other inscription on the TV. Do you know where I can find more information about its reference?

The remote control provided with the TV is the one that came with it when it was purchased; I can give you these references again: everything that is written on it is: Thomson RCV100S Navilight system.

And the universal remote control I bought has only 2 inscriptions: URC22B - 15 universal.

Indeed, the photo links don’t work, but the reference should be enough, I think; a visual doesn’t add much more regarding my problem, does it? But if necessary, I could take a photo of it.

The reference for your TV can be found on a label behind your TV, if it is still there.
For your universal remote control, the reference is also noted on a label, either stuck on the back of the case or inside where you insert the batteries.
I will look to see if I can find something with the references you gave me, and I'll keep you posted. But if you find other references, please send them to me here.

oh ok thanks, I'm silly, I didn't think of a reference behind (which does seem logical!)
so indeed there is a label:

it says "thomson type 469/ COMBO MONO EU"

there are other numbers but I'm not sure which one to report here, one seems to be the serial number, not very useful....
otherwise it's written in all languages that the TV should only be opened by a specialist. then there's a triangle with a lightning bolt inside, and a barcode with an EAN code.

it also says DM followed by a five-digit number then a white box with 2 series of 5 digits and a letter. but again, I don't think that's the model name of my TV.

the remote control that came with it, besides the inscriptions I had already provided, behind the battery cover it says: under a triangle >PS< 2099390B then there's a label attached with the numbers 163282 and the letter "B".

for the universal remote, there's nothing written on its battery cover and nothing else on it or on the packaging. that is: URC22B-15 and next to the barcode on the packaging: "ref: 186851"

I hope I've included the info you need! in any case, thank you for your responses, I’ll wait in case you need any more info to help me solve my issue.

I found the manual, but in English, for the URC 22 B remote control (Thanks to JMP59):

There is also this link that might help you:

ah, thank you very much for the English and French manuals of the universal remote
(I already had those since I just bought this remote),
I'm trying all the options again (knowing that I don't have the 3-digit code that needs to be entered and I don't know where or how to find it)
the other two options (fast or automatic) don't seem to be conclusive.

the diode of the remote lights up when it's supposed to, but nothing else happens and the TV shows no signs of receiving ...

I'm wondering if the fact that the “auto” button on the TV is flashing (as I mentioned in the first post) is blocking the installation, I don't know ...

anyway, thank you for your time, I'm staying connected to see if you have any other ideas or if someone else stops by, but for now, nothing has progressed :(

edit: I did the steps to find out the code, the entered code and the LED signal confirm that it's the right code. but the remote still doesn't control the TV :(

Hello,
actually, you just need to find the right code, but certain brands have multiple codes.
Try to do it through manual or automatic searches to at least find the first number.

Look at the translation made by JMP59:

Thank you,
as I mentioned in my message yesterday, I have this manual since I bought the remote yesterday, but indeed in the link you gave me, the instructions are explained more clearly :)

Then, in my "edit" from last night, I mentioned that I did the steps to get the code, I noted it down, I have the indications, I enter the code, the LED indicates that the code is correct.
So far, so good.

But the remote still does not control the TV.

Following the other 2 options, the LED lights up when the manual says it will, but the remote still does not control the TV.

I wonder if in trying to use the old one by all means I might have blocked something (I still have the "auto" button flashing on the TV)...

I'm going to try to see with the friend who gave me the TV if she kept the manual, but even with that I'm not sure what I could do...

It seems like there is no solution, it's strange not to be able to make a universal remote work...

After doing one of the three procedures indicated in the link you gave me, should the universal remote control the TV right away?
Is there something I didn't understand or did wrong?
I only attempt one of the three procedures each time, maybe I should try all three in a row?

Or something else I might not have understood?

Because by strictly following the steps in the manual (mine or the one in the link, they are the same) still nothing happens except the little LED confirming it works but it still doesn't change the channels on my TV...

:(

Actually, I'm not in front of your TV to know if you did the manip properly or not.

If you followed the instructions in the manual correctly and it's still not working, there may be an issue with the TV or maybe the TV is simply locked, as you mentioned that the auto indicator is blinking.

The steps I have done several times, each following the instructions to the letter
my boyfriend has done it too...
we have tried tons of times since last night, so I think that with all those times following the instructions we couldn't have gone wrong every time :-S

I was just wondering if there was a detail in the instructions that might not have been explicit and deserved to be re-explained by someone more knowledgeable

(I'm talking about the instructions from the link that also correspond to those provided with the universal remote control)

But, well, it's true that a manual shouldn't have a hidden meaning!

Unfortunately (in a way) I don't think the TV is blocked since the Thomson remote (provided with the TV) continues to display a page like teletext no matter which button we press (yes, we are not giving up, we are testing both remotes alternately)
while the universal remote, by any method chosen, still does not interact with the TV...
(by the way, following advice found online, we remove the batteries between each operation to avoid "mixing" the codes)

Anyway, it seems that there is no solution....

Thank you anyway for your help and your patience...

If the situation gets resolved, I will come back to post the solution here.

Good evening.
