Bluetooth Zorin

1) Check that the Bluetooth module is loaded:

lsmod | grep bluetooth

Normally you should see the Bluetooth module. If no line appears, the module is not loaded. Try to run:

sudo modprobe bluetooth

You can then verify that the module is properly loaded:

sudo dmesg | tail lsmod | grep bluetooth

2) Check that the Bluetooth service is running, and start it if needed:

sudo systemctl status bluetooth.service sudo systemctl start bluetooth.service

3) Check if Bluetooth is blocked by rfkill (this is what enables or disables Bluetooth or Wi-Fi at the applet level).

rfkill list bluetooth

Example: Here Bluetooth is blocked.

$ rfkill list bluetooth 0: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no

If you click the applet button or run:

rfkill unblock bluetooth rfkill list bluetooth

... then rfkill should no longer block Bluetooth.

4) You should then be able to detect nearby Bluetooth devices with the command:

hcitool scan

If you see a result appear, it will probably also be the case in the applet.

If you're blocked, report back for each step the results obtained.

Under Zorin, are you able to connect to other devices via Bluetooth? Make sure the Bluetooth service is enabled (usually you have an icon near the clock to turn it on or off).

Try resetting the Bose:

Hold the Power button for 15 seconds or keep the + and - buttons pressed for 15 seconds if it’s a Bose Gen2.

The speaker will turn off and reset, the Bluetooth light should blink to indicate it’s ready to pair. At that moment, start the search on Zorin.
