Hi, I'm looking to download some older movies but I can't find any sites for legal and free downloads. I tried E-Mule, but honestly I never seem to find the movie I want, so is there someone who can help me?

Hello,

I don't think there are any films that have entered the public domain. They are all still subject to copyright, and therefore, they require payment. (At least I think so!). Otherwise, as you probably know, all the films found on eMule or other P2P networks are considered "pirated."

Thank you Romain for responding quickly. I was told that E-mule is legal, but you must know more about it than I do. I'm looking for 3 movies that I would like to watch. I downloaded one on E-mule, but there's no sound on the DVD player. Maybe it's a DIVx error on the PC because it restarts at the 20-minute mark. I'm just unlucky, but maybe a site for piracy could help me. Do you know any? Here, payment isn't as easy as it is for you, so that's why I have to resort to this method.

E-mule is not an illegal software. It's the use made of it (downloading copyrighted movies) that is illegal. For example, it can be used to acquire sheet music for Linux (operating system). However, downloading movies is almost always condemnable.

A movie like "La Nuit des morts-vivants" (Night of the Living Dead 1968) by George A. Romero is freely downloadable in the United States due to a neglect that caused it to fall into the public domain (in France, I'm not sure but it seems to be the case if it's the original version). See on Wikipedia HERE.
But this is an exception that proves the rule, as this must be very rare.

I'm sorry, but you won't get help to obtain these movies other than from paid sites. If you can't pay by card, I don't know how you can do it.
Maybe you could find these movies on DVD in stores or elsewhere (except for the last one, which seems quite rare except on sites like eBay or Amazon, for example, and even in VOD)...
