Connect a 5.1 Home Theater to TV + DVD Player

Hello

I want to connect a television, a DVD player, and a 5.1 home theater system together.

I'm a bit lost with the RCA cables...

Could someone help me?

Below is the back panel of my DVD player and home theater.
I didn't think it was necessary to include the TV since it only has two Scart sockets and three RCA inputs.

      As I reread the forum, I come across your name and I have the impression that you are knowledgeable about home cinema and such. I am a lady of a certain age who wants to keep up but lacks the skills and assistance necessary for it... Tough... tough...
      Here it is: I am equipped with a Samsung LE32R72 TV purchased 3 years ago in HD ready. I live in Germany and I receive international channels via satellite. I wanted to finally enjoy the HD qualities of my device. For that, I had to equip myself with a new Telsky HD satellite decoder and a Yamaha RX V 365 amplifier. I connected, as the seller told me, with an HDMI cable from the TV to the amplifier (the "out" port), and then the decoder to the amplifier. Result: nothing at all, no image (just thousands of flies on the screen), nor sound... I am in despair...

      Could you please help me?

        Hello,
        I hope I can help you, I will try.
        Here it is: connect your amplifier to your satellite decoder via a SCART cable or HDMI cable or video cable. If you use a video cable, additionally connect the audio cables from your satellite to those of your amplifier.
        Then connect your amplifier to your television via a SCART cable if you haven't used the SCART, or by HDMI cable if you haven't used that one, or by audio video cable if you have it with you.
        Keep me updated if possible.

        You are nice, thank you! I just came back from the seller (60 km round trip) who has just installed the "Cinch - Stereo Adapter" cables (since the HDMI didn't work) at the designated spots. It doesn't make any difference!
        SAT HD decoder + TV: no problem (except I didn't have HD sound and I wanted to take the opportunity to equip myself with a home theater).

        If you have any ideas, they would be welcome. I'm in front of my laptop and waiting for your message.

        Thank you a thousand times, everything is sorted now. The problem was a difference in "source." What you said was correct, my wiring was therefore good, the technician who came to properly install everything noticed it. I understood your explanation well and spent so many hours in front of my new toy that it's starting to sink in. And then on the site, we always receive great help, which is very reassuring on a human level.

    HELLO,
    I am in a complicated situation. I have a Philips 5.1 integrated DVD home cinema, HD FREE, and a Samsung LCD TV. If someone can help me with the recommended connections, I have been able to connect the home cinema to the TV, but unfortunately I can listen to and play a DVD but I cannot get the TV sound on my home cinema. Please help me because I am confused. By the way, I would like to inform you that my home cinema does not have an HDMI port.

    Hi,

    The home cinema is only for sound, so you'll connect the RCA plugs from the DVD player to the "Audio in Video" jacks on your home cinema.

    For the picture, connect the SCART plug from the DVD directly to the TV.

    When you turn on the DVD, the TV will automatically switch to the SCART, you mute the TV's sound and turn on the home cinema, selecting "video" as the input and you'll have 5.1 surround sound.

    To fully enjoy Dolby sound, your home cinema amplifier would need to accept a "Digital In" input, which is not the case for this model!

    Hello,

    the Optical cable (see here!) is used to connect a decoder or a DVD player equipped with an Optical Audio/Digital output (using a diode and through an optical fiber). Your TV probably doesn't have such an output; if you have a SAT or TNT decoder, it does have this type of connector. If you connect it to your Home Cinema system while watching a channel from the decoder, you will get the corresponding sound in 5.1 Dolby.

    Here is the back of a Hi-Fi system; the Optical connectors (Tos-Link) are the black squares on the left side of the image above the orange-colored connector.

    Hello Bri76fr. For the image, you need to connect your SAT decoder to the TV using an HDMI cable. You are limited because your TV only has one HDMI input.
    For the sound, you connect your SAT decoder to the amplifier using RCA cables (red & white) or through a scart cable. Your amplifier has a coaxial and optical sound input. If your SAT decoder has one of the two sound outputs or both, just connect your amplifier using one of these cables. To receive sound, you need to display the correct input from your SAT decoder on the front of your amplifier. It's up to you to look for it using the amplifier's remote until you get sound. It's not complicated. With this connection, you must have sound on your amplifier. @+.
