Hello, I'm looking for the movie from my childhood... I've been searching but can't find anything...

I used to call it: The Magic Door but apparently that's not the right title, nobody knows it.

The movie starts with a young boy who comes home after school and discovers two huge gift packages in his room (that arrived from the sky...) He unpacks and finds a door and a small electric car, he gets in the car and as soon as he passes through the door he finds himself in an animated world and then decides to enter a magnetic field that leads him to several fantastical worlds (numbers and letters, forests, quirky characters, etc...)

Please helpppp me! And NO, I haven’t done drugs, this is all my childhood :D

Hello everyone

The film/animated movie in question is indeed "The Magic Door", (or in English: "The Phantom Tollbooth, or also "The Adventures of Milo in the Phantom Tollbooth").

You are lucky to know the title! I couldn't remember the title and hardly any of the story; it took me over 5 years of searching to find it again!

But I finally found it:
* For my Belgian friends, please note that it is available in French version on VHS at LaMédiathèque ( http://www.lamediatheque.be/med/rech_n.php?intervenant=&morceau=&titre=la+porte+magique&ref= )

I don't know if you're still interested, but I have the cassette, it still works; it's about the magic door, the original title is The Phantom Tollbooth and the main character is a young boy named Milo.
I would really like to find this animated film in French and on DVD, but I can't seem to do it....

You may not believe it, but this movie aired in Quebec in the late '80s and early '90s, and my grandparents recorded it. I think I still have it on VHS! I believe I'm going to watch it tonight to make sure it still works.

I'd like to know if you managed to get that VHS working, if so I'm interested, even willing to buy it,
Quebec is far away but I'm sure it's doable via the postal system ^^

It's impossible to find this film on eBay or elsewhere, and it was one of my classics...
I've been looking for it for a long time, help me out if possible.

Hi everyone,

I’m also looking for a movie from the 80s that mixed live-action actors and animated characters (2D naturally for the time :-p). It was a very dark fantasy film. The monsters were drawn, but I can’t remember the story at all, I was a bit too young...

And another one, in black and white, a film where a young man receives a plant as a gift that turns out to be a carnivorous plant. He has to cut off his fingers to feed it and it becomes huge.

I remember the movie you're talking about with the plant: it grows bigger and bigger and becomes enormous. Also, it sings. As an adult, I think you would be disappointed to revisit this film.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the title. Sorry.

I don't know it, but it makes me want to see... by the way, do you remember the name of an actor from the movie? Then you can search on Google+ for the actor's name or the director, etc., and you'll have the list of movies, and maybe you'll remember the title.
