Hello,
I just formatted my hard drive to install Windows XP, but after the installation, I can't install the audio drivers.
My configuration: Acer TravelMate 5320-050508MI laptop. I went to the manufacturer's website, downloaded some drivers, but my sound still doesn't work. I've connected my laptop to the internet and with the help of the site touslesdrivers.com, I was able to detect the chipset driver Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller. I have searched in vain to download the Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller driver.
So if anyone can help me because I'm desperate. THANK YOU in advance
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

    Hello,

"Intel Corporation:82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller" is not specific enough to know which driver you need. You might end up installing an incompatible driver, which is not recommended.

Use AIDA64 to find out the actual name of your sound card:
    https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/9265-identifier-son-materiel-avec-aida64

The brand and model of your PC are also important.

The original topic mentions an Acer TravelMate 5320 laptop running XP. The driver for the sound card is available on the Acer website at this address:
    http://global-download.acer.com/...

If you cannot find the driver you need, create your own topic by clearly explaining your problem and providing as much information as possible (Brand, model, name of the sound card, version of Windows, etc. if possible):

If you have this: Intel Corporation: 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller
and you can't find a driver, try going to
My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Look for updating all drivers with a yellow exclamation mark. In my case (originally Dell running Vista that I upgraded to XP), there was a "PCI Device" that didn't have a driver. Right-click, update the driver...
And then FINALLY the sound card appeared in the list!! Now you just need to update it with a driver downloaded from Dell. (SIGMATEL - Driver)

There you go, I hope this helped you!

P.S: Always remember to post the solution to your problem when you find it =_=

Here is the link to download the drivers for the Realtek 82801H sound card under Vista, probably compatible with Windows XP.
I haven't tried it... let me know how it goes!

After several searches, I was able to download a driver that detects the sound card chipset, so I was able to install my sound card correctly. So write to me so I can help you.

    Hello everyone
I just solved my problem of this kind, you simply need to go to the Device Manager and update the driver in question using the installation CD used during the installation of Windows.
Note that you need a clean CD without dust or cyclic redundancy, as for me, the problem was caused by a not well-cleaned CD; otherwise, one of your RAM sticks can also cause this problem.
    That's my opinion.
    Hope I could help you.

    Good evening!

The best thing to do is go to www.touslesdrivers.com > My drivers section > install the plugins > and then you will see all the drivers that you need to update... and the ones you need!

I'm having the same problem as you, and on "touslesdrives," it tells you that there is nothing installed (like drivers).
Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller
    Installed drivers:
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation | Class: unknown
So basically, it doesn't offer anything....

Insults aren't mandatory, loulou, but it’s true that naming the software or putting it on boards would be nice. I still haven't received any responses despite my PMs to the authors of the topic.
After 20 days of waiting, I consider this forum dead or there's a boycott.
    Thanks for the help.
