Hello everyone!

I have a little problem with my burner.

I bought an Acer Aspire M3100 PC, unfortunately since I bought it in France before going back to Belgium to continue my studies, I didn't have time to ask for it with XP, so I ended up with Vista.

The problem is, I can't install the programs I needed for school. So I put XP back on it.

That's when my problem arises, my system no longer recognizes my burner HL-DT-ST DVD-RW_GSA-H41N... And I need it for school!

Until now I had my girlfriend's PC for that but it just broke down...

I'd like to know where I could find compatible XP drivers so that my burner is recognized by my computer and by Nero in passing...

    If your CD/DVD drive is no longer reading, doesn't appear in My Computer, and shows up in Device Manager with a yellow triangle and an error code (10, 19, 31, 32, 37, 39, or 41), start by removing the upperfilters and lowerfilters. You can remove them automatically upon restarting your PC like this:

    Save this file to your desktop: http://docxp.mvps.org/b1n/DisparitionCD.inf then right-click on it and install, then restart your PC as such.

    This avoids modifications in the registry and works even for Vista.

      Hello Mickael, I just came across the response you gave to someone. I have the same problem; my CD drive won't read anything anymore. I also have a yellow triangle next to the label HL-DT-SV DVDRAM GSA-T20 ATA device, but I don't have an error code. When I search for a driver, it says that the drivers are up to date. I'm on Vista, and I saw that the person resolved their issue. Could you have a solution for me? I'm a beginner.
      My laptop is an Acer 7220. Thank you in advance.

      return to the device manager right-click on your drive then select " uninstall " then restart your PC.

      windows will reinstall it at startup.

    Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. This driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

    Click "Search for solutions" to send data about this device to Microsoft and check if there is a solution available.

      Hello Cristal,

      I am encountering the same problem as you, a code 39 for the driver of my DVD player and burner as well. I can insert discs but there is no reading. The seller who sold me the equipment a month ago suggests that I do a complete reinstallation! Is there perhaps a less cumbersome solution? Thank you for your response.

    The reading functions work perfectly, whether it's CD or DVD.

    The problem is with the burning function. Whether it's Windows or a burning program like Nero, the burning function is not detected.

    Hi Mickael, I have pretty much the same problem: my burner is GSA T10N, my PC is HP Compaq nx7400, I can burn DVDs but when I try CDs it fails. Can you help me please?

    Hi,

    Normally, an LG burner should be detected by XP... If you put a bootable CD-ROM in it and try to boot from it, does it work? Or better, can you read CDs in Windows, without being able to burn, or do you not even see a drive?

    Is it a SATA or IDE burner? If it's IDE, several burners require an "80-pin" cable also known as a "hard drive cable" and not a "40-pin" cable unfortunately too often referred to as "cdrom cable"...

    To differentiate them, if you're not familiar, here is a 40-pin... you can see that each wire is quite thick: https://amigakit.amiga.store/images/40-pin-ide-m-f.jpg

    And here is an 80-pin... the wires are hardly distinguishable in the photo because they are much smaller and numerous: https://www.pcguide.com/t/storage/

    If your burner has a 40-pin cable, I would start by replacing it with an 80-pin, just to see.
    Also, I would completely uninstall Nero Burning Rom, restart, and then reinstall. It can only do good!

    Clearly, it's not the cable since it's already an 80-pin (IDE burner)

    I still think there is an inherent compatibility issue with Windows Vista compared to XP...

    Since before reformatting it was perfectly functional, the burner, and since I've had XP it no longer works (without having touched the hardware).

    Alright. Indeed, if you haven't touched the hardware, you shouldn't have to. Have you tried completely uninstalling Nero, restarting, and then reinstalling? This operation will reinstall the CD/DVD-ROM detection/burning drivers and could fix your problem. Otherwise, you can always try other burning solutions, like NTI DVD-Maker or any other.

    In fact, I had to restart my PC to try to find a solution to a problem with another PC, and miracle! Nero detects the burner and works very well!

    I'm afraid I may have wasted your time for nothing, guys... The solution was really simple!

    Hello, I have a big problem with my Vista reader, it no longer recognizes it and it doesn't burn anything anymore, it doesn't do anything at all, lol. Can someone have a solution? Thank you.

      Does your reader/burner appear in My Computer and in the Device Manager?

    Yes, it no longer reads or writes, and it doesn't appear in My Computer, but it is in the Device Manager with an exclamation mark in front.
