Very smooth PC but file explorer is very slow
Solved
Hello,
I built a new PC configuration and since then File Explorer takes several minutes to load when opening a folder or when I right-click, but everything else runs smoothly—internet browsing, games, or even Windows options—so I don’t think it’s a performance issue.
For precision, I don’t know if this could be the cause, but the configuration change was drastic: my old components dated from around 2014 and I was on Intel CPUs, now they are newer components around 2025 with an AMD processor.
I’ve never had a problem like this before. I’ve seen people talk about Autoruns or ShellExView, but that didn’t work. I tried repairing the files via Command Prompt, but that did nothing.
In Safe Mode, Explorer works correctly.
I don’t really know what to do. If anyone has an idea, please share.
Thanks

Suggestion:
To repair without data loss or a update, either use the MediaCreationTool to download the Windows 10 ISO file (For another PC)Or the Windows 11 ISO file can be downloaded directly with a button if compatible.
We can check compatibility (Or improve for Windows 11) with WhyNotWin11
Windows 10
Windows 11
When you have the ISO file, right-click > Open with > Windows Explorer
Then click the setup.exe file
Follow the instructions to "install" without erasing everything, so that the checkboxes showing that you keep everything are fine.

Hello,
Does CrystalDiskInfo see all drives with a blue dot (Good)
If Prudence, or Bad, replace it/them. -
