Many drivers reverse at highway tolls in case of problems (defective terminal, previous car broken down, wrong lane, etc.). However, according to the Highway Code, this action is completely prohibited, even in toll areas. Offenders risk a fine of 135 euros and the withdrawal of 4 points from their license. The decision for this strict prohibition is based on the necessity to ensure safety on the highway where vehicles travel at high speed. An unexpected movement can lead to a serious accident. Furthermore, thanks to surveillance cameras installed at tolls, authorities can easily spot these offenses. Therefore, in case of a problem at the tolls, the driver must turn on their hazard lights and wait for the intervention of the officers.     in toll areas, the speed limit must be "creeping along." If a vehicle arrives at 130 km/h... As stated in the article, a siren must sound, "catch" the driver, and immediately revoke their license. Since a person cannot be left stuck in the toll booth, company personnel must be present at all times to resolve the issue as quickly as possible...

      Motorists obviously do not pass through the toll at 130 km/h, except perhaps Go Fast, but sometimes arrive too quickly at the toll barrier despite progressive speed limits upstream often down to 70 km/h and also often with speed bumps.

      The speed of walking is 30 km/h in the express toll lanes.

      Some people's imagination knows no bounds; a guy overtook me on the right not long ago, going fast enough to cut me off at the otherwise smooth toll booth.

      Occasionally, there are speed checks near tolls, but not all the time.

      That said, the behavior in question has happened to me once or twice (with many precautions and no one behind) because an intellectual found a way to take one of the express toll lanes without a badge.

      Some tolls, including one near my home, are inherently dangerous because the express toll is on the left and upon exiting, you almost immediately have to take an interchange to the right.

    in a world where our license plates are scanned in every direction and everywhere, it's about time we implemented barrier-free tolls, but without the requirement to pay within 48 hours, which is pointless and obstructive.

    And there you go, there it is ....

    But my goodness, how annoying are the line spacing!!

        There will always be some, I suppose that already all those who have a toll subscription pay at the end of the month, it must be possible to do the same for non-subscribers, except that we do not have their IBAN, but well, receiving a bill with a name and address on it does not encourage amnesia for a few euros to save.

        On sections without toll barriers, I'm not sure if the payment deadline is displayed on the signs; some say they get caught out but are probably just careless or acting in bad faith, in any case, payment must be made, and the acquisition of most goods is done in cash.

        The question isn't really posed today, there are still few of these sections, but one could always argue against it, particularly the elderly who are little or not connected or foreign drivers.

        The telepeage has a memory cost, plus a badge fee of €10 plus €2 per month of usage, which is not very significant compared to toll costs that have become astronomical.

        Also, if I remember correctly, payment occurs around the third week of month M+1, consolidating all trips from month M, and therefore varies according to the date of the last or only trip of that month M.

    There will always be people who back up at the tollbooth, stuck behind the dead weight

    •  who can't find their bank card or (and) their entry ticket,
    • who haven't approached the payment terminal closely enough, but are still too close to exit the vehicle.

    The free-flowing flow of highways would probably be a good solution. But at the pace things are going, it will take at least 20 years to implement what has been running smoothly in other countries for years (Portugal, for example).
