Photoshop freezing after a few minutes

Hello,

I installed Adobe Suite from a CD dated 2010. It has always worked well. Now I'm running Windows 11, Illustrator works fine. But Photoshop freezes after a few minutes and a few operations. Why is that? What can I do?

    Hello,

    Your problem is very typical: you are running a very old version of Adobe (≈ 2010, so CS4 / CS5) on a much newer system (Windows 11).

    Illustrator is holding up… but Photoshop is much more sensitive → hence the crashes.

    You are going to try making these changes, and that might just get it started!

    - Disable GPU acceleration (very important)

    In Photoshop:

    Edit → Preferences → Performance

    Uncheck:
    "Use Graphics Processor"

    This is often THE miracle solution.

    - Run in compatibility mode

    Right-click on Photoshop.exe
    Properties
    Compatibility tab

    Enable:

    "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7"
    "Run as administrator"

    - Reset Photoshop preferences

    When launching Photoshop:
     hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift

    Accept the reset

    This fixes a lot of random bugs
