Hello, since I switched to Windows 11, every time I open a file, an Express Zip window opens asking me to unzip it, why?

What happens if you uninstall Express Zip?

      Hello,

Sure, but the matter is still not clear (see <8>).

If the situation only concerns compressed files, that would make sense, it's quicker to right-click on a zip file (for example) to open with, as usual.

I know that Windows 10 and 11 natively open zip files, but one can always bypass that by installing 7-Zip, for instance.

The installation of Express Zip may be intentional but I doubt it; it's paid and its usefulness is not really apparent; it is most often installed as a PUP (added without the user's knowledge during the installation of another questionable software), and it also installs a nuisance search bar in the browser.

If it has a free version with limited features, it will bombard the user with popups asking them to pay.

The theory would suggest that it's just a matter of uninstalling both in the control panel, but they are reported as very sticky: you then either have to go through Revo Uninstaller or, after the control panel, delete anything related to Express Zip and/or NCH in the program files, user folders, and the registry.

    Hello,

Express Zip is a compression software that allows you to open and manage various file formats, including ZIP files. If all your files open with Express Zip, it's probably because this software has been configured as the default program for these types of files.

Good evening, this problem didn't exist before I switched to Windows 11, all my documents opened with a double click, yet I haven't changed anything.

    Hello,

Restore the default file association extensions.

Download this --> RstAssociations Version .scr
    Run it
In Selection, click on --> All
In Actions, click on --> Restore
    Restart the PC.

      Hello,

The situation may require further clarification.

Express Zip does not usually come on its own unless it has been downloaded.

Even if that were the case and it had been assigned by default all the file extensions that could be compressed, for example zip or rar, certainly not pdf, xls, doc, txt....

Or it could be that there is a virus that has compressed all the files on the disk; check their extension.
