Bentomanga site inaccessible, erreur 521 [GROUPED TOPIC]

Hello,

Does anyone know and could tell me what is happening with bentomanga? Since April 26, 2024, I haven't been able to access the site. It says that there is a "Host Error" message directly from the site.

    Hello.

    The connection to the servers of this site is down; it generates error 521, you can't do anything about it; you'll have to wait.

    For your information:

    manga scan sites have been under scrutiny from authorities for several years for copyright infringement, see this page.

    Also see this page showing that the subscription to the OVH servers allowing the site to be online expired on 29/04/2024.

      I can't open it either, it says error 521 and I can't do anything for now. Find yourself other sites, I hope it works again because I have several tabs open that I haven't finished, I'm so frustrated.

      Likewise, I'm not necessarily asking for the site to be available again (even though I would like it because I was in the middle of reading when it went down), but I was at least hoping for a message from someone working on the site to let us know if the site is dead, closed, under maintenance, something like that, because you find 0 response when you search.

      It would be a shame if the site closed down, I had quite a few ongoing works that I had saved in my favorites. I hope it's just a temporary glitch.

      Yeah, I understand you. Luckily, I got used to this with CrunchyScan, so I have an Open Office file with the name and image of all the works I've read in case a site shuts down, to find them more easily.

      But really, it's mostly that BentoManga is the best site, especially in terms of watchlists: it has no limit on the number of entries, which is the main drawback of all other sites. You can have your account, works organized by category to help you navigate, the site keeps track of where you left off in a more visible way, and plenty of other things that make BentoManga more appealing than other sites.

It announces only good things; I think we need to start facing the harsh reality (but I'm not an expert, I retrieved this from the meanders of Facebook). Anyway, whether it closes or just for a few days, it's still a lack of respect for us readers because we received no information about a future site outage on the site itself to allow us to prepare, nor any information afterward. And a small thought for the authors who, like us, some had just released a chapter for nothing, and especially big thoughts for the people who had just made a donation when it closed. It's no surprise if afterward, no one does it anymore on this kind of site.

      The interesting part of my "addition" was the extra comments that allowed us to potentially find new answers, which @honorasoma did to indicate that it was going to close thanks to Cheu's comment.

      In the end, it will end the same way as for download sites; they will fight it for a while, they will see that they cannot win because for every head cut off, three will grow back, and they will look for something else to make disappear. Meanwhile, the scan sites will be reborn, more powerful from their ashes, and only the most well-known works will be monitored.

      Uh no, it's the rights holders who file lawsuits, and even if it takes a long time each time, they make a lot of money. It's the biggest companies that line their pockets, it's them, the rights holders, who sue. They actually don't mind everyone downloading, in fact it suits them.

      It's just a business with lawsuits.

      Good news guys, for those who don't have the Crunchyscan Discord, they've completely revamped it for the past week and it's evolving in a good way; it might be the real replacement, here's the promise:

      As you can see, the site is now in maintenance mode for 1 to 2 weeks (normally). Our team is working hard to create the best scanning website possible. What's going to change?

      • Upload system for teams
      • Reduction of bot checks on unlicensed chapters
      • Advanced profile and favorites system (which is the most interesting)
      • And plenty of other features that you will discover in the coming days...

        Here is an image that has been provided for now and frankly it seems to look good. The maintenance should end around June 4, however, there is a chance that your favorites and comments will be deleted (I’m sad, I had left a lot of comments).

      I agree there is a lot of bl, but from what I understand everything they publish on bentomanga will be republished on their 'new' site, the old site no longer exists, so let's just hope we find all our ongoing reads.

        Not necessarily everything but a large part, it will all depend on the different translation teams working on the project, we can only hope that it will be quick because I remember the same promise with Wakanim and Crunchyroll and it took ages to recover everything.

        Moreover, I think we are far from Bentomanga; we are much closer to all the other sites of the kind like Crunchyscan. The magic of Bentomanga was its different interface, its very clear notifications and especially its unlimited favorites that could be sorted into categories, and the new site has none of that.

        I completely agree the bentomanga interface was the best of all the sites but unfortunately we have to say goodbye to it, it’s going to take a long time to recover everything..
