Vector coordinates in column with Word 2021
SolvedHello,
I have Word 2021.
I am using the "equation" function. I would like to write the coordinates of vectors in a column rather than in a row.... However, the function with 3 perpendicular boxes inside these parentheses does not seem to be available. Did I just not find it or does it simply not exist?
If you have knowledge that I do not have, I am more than willing to enrich myself with your insights :)
Thank you in advance :)

Hello,
I'm not sure it's possible except by going through either LaTex or a "full" equation editor like MathType or MatLab (Word uses a simplified version of MathType). -

Hello,
If I understand your request correctly, in the Brackets => cases and stacks function, there are indeed only 2 perpendicular boxes between parentheses, but not 3.
However, with the 2 box model, once inserted, we can add a 3rd box: place the cursor to the right of the 2nd box and then press the Enter key.
If needed, we can also "match the brackets to the height of the arguments" (right-click on all selected arguments including parentheses).

Hello ????
Well, this technique that works wonderfully in your video unfortunately doesn't work for me.. Is it because of my version of Word (2021) or something else???
I will take a small video capture to show you this evening...

Hello
Sorry for my off-topic response (which I will delete), I really skimmed through it.
I tested the method suggested by Argitxu (hi Argitxu!;)), but it crashes Word on my end.
But there’s a more "normal" method:
- Insert a 3-cell matrix via the Matrix menu.
- Select the matrix, then go to the Bracket menu, choose the parentheses (1st option).

Hi m@rina
At my place too, the method suggested by Argitxu crashes Word...
I'm trying your method right now and oh miracle, it's working wonderfully!
I saved it as a predefined equation so there’s no time wasted on doing all the manipulations!
A huge thank you to the community and especially to you m@rina :)

Hello,
I would like to add my two cents while I'm here.
I tested Argitxu's method with Word 2019. It works very well. The advantage is being able to easily add as many components as one wants and therefore work in a space of dimension greater than 3.
The use of the matrix menu also works very well. To change the dimension, you just need to right-click on the column vector and insert a row.
What one clearly conceives
One can clearly state,
And the words to say it come easily.
