Foam ear pads Philips tah4205 removed by mistake

Solved

Hello, I bought my girlfriend a Philips BT headphone model TAHA4205BK 5 months ago, but while she was taking a bath, the ear cushions got damp from the foam, and to avoid damaging the headphones, she removed them. However, the headphones cannot be disassembled, so it's impossible to put them back on. Does anyone have a solution? It's impossible to leverage or turn to disengage the tabs, and I think that human error isn't covered by the warranty.

    Hello
I don't know this particular headset, but there are two things to know:

    1) These headsets are not made for steam baths, and that's exactly what happens in a bathroom, especially in a bath; it literally swims in a fog of humidity every time (hot water vs colder air). A very good way to shorten their lifespan for not much.

    2) In principle, the foams are secured with mini "clips" integrated into the headset itself. No need to disassemble. However, it's barely visible; if it's like mine, the foam sits on a kind of flat oval made of semi-rigid plastic. And the headset will normally have a slight oval groove with tiny bumps, hard to see.

The goal is to insert the semi-rigid part into the groove on the headset, starting from one side while pressing well but without forcing, then continuing to push it gently into the groove as you go around. At first, as you press, you'll see that it gets stuck in there and at certain points there are bumps that make a click when it goes underneath. Do the same gradually while going all the way around.
Patience and don’t force it so as not to break anything.

If you don’t have this semi-rigid piece on the cushion, then my method is not for this headset. Contact Philips through their website to get the information. It’s not a warranty issue; the cushions are part of the "consumable" and can be replaced.

    1. I know about the bath but I didn't know she had brought it with her. Anyway, I have the semi-rigid part, but the groove in the helmet is perpendicular and not parallel, which makes it impossible to fit this collar in since the space is too small. Twisting the foam to fit is not possible on the sides due to the lack of grooves, and in addition, there are the buttons and connections. I tried, but there are no screw threads or anything, so apart from gluing them with super glue, I don't really see what to do because I don't think the warranty applies since she is the one who removed them.

And what does the internal foam look like?
When you removed it, did it come off? Torn, deformed or simply unclipped? There isn’t a non-detachable foam system.. (I didn’t find a replacement foam for your model)
That being said, when looking at the large photos of a new one, it certainly looks like it clips on.

For mine which is not a Philips (Bose), it comes off quite easily with a little resistance, but it took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to put it back on, nothing was obvious, a bit like yours.

Except for forcing, what we can take off, we can put back on, that’s what I told myself.

I also remind you that it is possible to contact the brand.

    4. We had the same problem, and we managed to fix it lol. Unclip the flat plastic part with a flat screwdriver (gently) starting from the small notch. Once you've unclipped it, rotate the rubber of the cushion starting from that same notch and bingo, just snap everything back in place :)

    Hello,

There are replacement "ear pads" for Philips headphones (among others)

For example, check if you can find the diameter that suits you. We will show you how to install these ear pads

If I'm not mistaken, his ear pads don't need to be replaced; he just wants to reposition them.
If I'm correct, what you're suggesting isn't suitable for this type of headset. It's like mine; it's a kind of plate at the base that fits inside the round or oval part. There's no space to insert or go behind.

it's exactly that she sorted them easily without forcing, without tearing anything, without peeling, but it cannot be put back, it's very stupid, I knew it but I never thought she would pull on it, and the helmet is not detachable, only the battery part on the headband can be removed, the rest seems glued, and the groove is like in the photo above while the pads are as if the groove was parallel on the sides of the helmet. In my opinion, it's assembled, the helmet is glued and finished, but it can be removed, which is very unfortunate. Fortunately, it’s not worth 200 euros, but it's annoying for a helmet in perfect condition. Apart from gluing the collar of the pads with glue, I don’t see what to do because peeling the helmet risks damaging something else.

OK madmyke, but the photo wasn't there when I wrote my message...

      @pineauman

IF it's just come apart and the retaining tabs have popped out, then indeed the "drop of glue" solution remains.
