Listen to music CD via DVD player without going through TV.
SolvedHello,
I would like to enjoy my music CDs by putting them in my DVD player without having to turn on my television. I have a JBL soundbar with HDMI and optical inputs.
I have an old Marantz amplifier, with RCA connections and for connecting speakers, but my goal is to use my soundbar.
What solution can you recommend?
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hello,
I finally solved the problem differently.
I realized that I had an optical output on my DVD player. So I connected it directly to the soundbar with an optical cable and it's perfect. The sound is great.

Thank you. Without your help, I wouldn't have thought of it.

Hello,
Without the references (brand and model) of your DVD player, it's impossible to respond...
Knowing those of the soundbar as well as the model of the Marantz amplifier would also be very helpful.
It's very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it's not there... -
Philips DVD player DVP 3380/12
MARANTZ amplifier model 1060
JBL Bar 2.0 soundbar (all in one)
Sorry for this oversight

The reader has a Coaxial digital output.
You could use a Coaxial to Optical converter to connect the soundbar to its optical input.

Do we need to plug this converter between the soundbar and the DVD player?

Well, yes.
A coaxial audio cable between the coaxial output of the player and the coaxial input of the converter, and an optical cable between the optical output of the converter and the input of the soundbar.
Note that this converter is bidirectional; you need to set the switch located on the side of the converter in the correct direction.
