Synaptics pointing device driver is the default driver for the touchpad / trackpad on most laptops. In short, it's the software that allows you to move the mouse cursor when using the touchpad. Therefore, it is essential if you want to be able to use the touchpad (pointing device located just in front of the keyboard), do not uninstall it.
Reinstalling the driver
If you have accidentally uninstalled the pointing device driver or if Windows does not recognize it during a reinstall, you can reinstall it by downloading it from one of the following addresses:
