No signal xp-pen artist 15.6
Solved
Hello,
I am currently setting up my XP-Pen Artist 15.6 tablet on Ubuntu. However, I have a problem. After installing the tablet driver, I plugged in my tablet and it shows "no signal."
What is strange is that the touchscreen is recognized. When I move my stylus, the mouse moves as well. But the most bizarre thing is that when I turn off and restart my computer from Windows (where there is no problem, I just have to extend the display from the settings, display) while leaving my tablet on, the restart happens on my tablet and the computer screen freezes on Ubuntu.
I think it is simply a screen sharing issue; my computer cannot display both screens at the same time. How would you go about displaying both screens, please?
Thank you in advance.

ModeratorHello,
Here is the attached image detailing the information: https://postimg.cc/kVtKphSL
I managed to get the multi-screen setup working. The tablet displays correctly alongside the computer screen.
Congratulations, so what did you do to solve the problem? Did you just install the driver? For the future, instead of attaching a screenshot, copy and paste the content of your terminal (it will be more eco-friendly and practical for everyone). Note that once the multi-screen is working, the results of these commands are no longer important for resolving your issue.
For example, if I place my stylus in the center of my screen, the mouse shows up about 5 cm to the left of the stylus. When I move my stylus to the right, there's still an offset, but less (roughly 3 cm). When I'm at the far right edge of the tablet, it points correctly. The opposite is also true: if I place my stylus to the left from the center of the screen, the offset goes up to 10 cm, reaching the left edge of the computer screen, even though I’m still pointing on the tablet.
I think what you're describing is a calibration issue with your tablet. Have you checked in the software installed with your driver if there's anything that allows for calibration?
There might also be a section in the control panel to calibrate your tablet (this exists under KDE for touchpads), here’s what it looks like under KDE (I don’t know if a tablet section would appear if I had one):
Here's a hypothesis: the multi-screen has extended the display window instead of having two separate but connected ones. So, the tablet is trying to act as if the computer screen and the tablet were just one screen. It recalculates the stylus position to point across the entire display area (computer screen + tablet) instead of focusing on the tablet
In fact, it depends on the multi-screen strategy you have configured. You can either:- have both screens display the same thing,
- or view them as side-by-side screens
Here’s what it looks like under KDE, and it’s probably very similar in your case:
Through this window, you can configure their relative position (you would see two screens in the preview that you could drag and/or overlap). What I recommend, especially when the two screens have different resolutions, is to keep them side by side. Your cursor can then (by reaching the right edge) pass from one screen to the other.
I am trying to use the pentablet software, but I can't get it to work. It tells me to connect my device, which I do, but it doesn't respond. When my device is connected, I try to click on "Ok" but nothing happens. I continue to look for solutions
In order to maintain a clear and readable forum, let’s try not to multiply the sub-problems. The goal of this discussion thread is to ensure your tablet works correctly. Like a mouse or a screen, your tablet is hardware that does not depend on drawing software. This should be sufficient to use for instance ingimp
.
If once calibrated and configured, your pentablet software causes issues, I suggest creating a new discussion, focusing on getting your software to work correctly.
Good luck.
