Connect LG soundbar to Haier TV

Solved
Hello,
I hope to find some help. For Christmas, I bought an LG SJ2 soundbar with a subwoofer. It has an optical cable, a jack output, and a USB port. The problem is that I have an old Haier LET39Z18HF TV which does not have an optical output or a jack output; there is one, but it's for a PC. Moreover, I cannot use my box either because it doesn't have an optical output. I tried with the RCA outputs, but nothing works. I can watch a DVD and connect my soundbar to it, but I can't watch TV channels and get the sound through my soundbar. I hope I wasn't too messy. Thank you.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 87.0.4280.141

  1. Sorry, but the one I have doesn't have those connections, I thought the TV's model was the correct one.
    The soundbar is the LG SJ2 2.1 Soundbar - Bluetooth 4.0 - 160W - Wireless subwoofer.

      In this other description, it is clearly stated that this TV has a headphone output;

As well as on the manual page Fr 8:
      Port 10: coaxial
      Port 13: headphone output:

      1. Yes, but I made a mistake with the reference; there is a PC output with no SCART, two HDMI ports, and three RCA connectors. However, even with an adapter from RCA to jack, it doesn't work, and on the TV it seems like I should switch the sound to my speaker, but there's no such option on the TV.

These RCAs are inputs and not outputs, so what is the correct reference?

      1. Hello, I registered to send photos, so I don't have the TV's reference; it's over ten years old, so I can't pass the sound through the TV, and if I go through the hi-fi system, I get stuck there too.

Hello and welcome to this forum as a new member,

The reference is located on a label on the back of the TV

      1. Hello, thank you, but it was a label that came off over time. I wanted to upload photos to show you, but I can't manage to do it.

You need to click on the red "Reply" button and then click on the icon representing a mountain; a window will open and you will select your image after opening the folder where it is located.

        1. Hello, sorry but it doesn't work with my phone; it works better with the PC.
In the photo, there is a PC audio jack and I can't get any sound from it. I don't know if it's a setting to adjust or if it's just for connecting my PC. Thank you.

"In the photo, there is a PC audio jack and I can't get any sound out of it, I don’t know if it’s a setting to adjust or if it’s just for connecting my PC, thank you "
And for good reason, it’s an input and not an output, however your first photo is incomplete and completely blurry

          Hi Andy
Apparently the antenna socket is not being used, it's a decoder or a box that provides the image..
We need to have the references of this external device.
Because it could well provide the sound to the soundbar.

So, it's dead because there’s no audio output and no HDMI with ARC function, but are you sure your box doesn't have an audio output?

        1. Hello, I have a box with a coaxial output, but even with an adapter to convert it to optical cable, it doesn't work.

There is certainly a conversation to be had in the "Audio" or "Sound" menu of the box to enable the Coaxial Digital output.
            Which box?
          2. This is the Orange UHD TV decoder

What adapter, what is its reference? And have you connected it properly?

          1. so it's an adapter from the brand Hama audio converter AC80

              Well… It's just a digital-to-analog converter.
A coaxial digital input to optical digital output converter would have been preferable.

Now we just need to set up the decoder output via the menu.

            Let's get back to it,
Your box has a coaxial output that you have connected to your converter, and the converter is connected to the 3.5mm input of your soundbar with this:

            That's correct?

            1. I have not tried this system, I tried with the optical cable, I will try tonight and keep you updated.

Why optical cable when your box has a coaxial output???

Certainly, but your box only has a coaxial output

                  1. I would like to thank everyone for your help, my soundbar finally works on my television. The sound may not compare to a great home theater, but compared to my old TV, it is perfect.
                    Thanks again for your help.
