Hello, I have version 2.4.2. (Audacity) and a new MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, I can't switch to the headphone port - Audacity only allows "speaker". Can someone help me? Thank you very much in advance.
So there is indeed a problem... let's wait for the software update.

In Audacity's preferences, under the "Devices" tab, what is the setting selected in the "Playback" section? Is it indeed "Built-in Output"?

If you're still interested, go to display -> toolbar -> and enable the peripherals toolbar. Make sure you've activated the correct audio output of your Mac, and normally you should be able to switch devices.
In Audacity's preferences, you indeed won't find the option "headphones"; however, in the System Preferences / Sound, provided that headphones are connected to the Mac, you will have that option, and Audacity will produce sound through the connected headphones. Thus, it is in the System Preferences that you need to select the output to the headphones (or headset).
Your link is about Windows...
