Installation wien2k on Ubuntu 16.04. The display on my laptop is as follows
Solved
Hello,
wien2k installation with Ubuntu 16.04. The display on my laptop is as follows:
You must change your LOCALE!
The command printf "%5.3f" 0.15 prints 0.15 instead of 0.15
Set LC_NUMERIC globally or in your startup files, like:
setenv LC_NUMERIC en_US in .cshrc or
export LC_NUMERIC=en_US in .bashrc
siteconfig can only continue when your LOCALE is corrected.
Thank you in advance.

ModeratorHello,
First thing, this question has already been asked here, have you tried?
Next, the error message is clear: it tells you that you need to correct your LC_NUMERIC environment variable so that floating-point numbers are written with a "." rather than a "," to separate the whole and decimal parts. Depending on the shell you are using (probably bash), the command to set an environment variable differs (setenv
incsh
,export
inbash
...).
1) Make sure the required locale is present on your system:
sudo locale-gen
2) If not:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
3) Then, assuming you are using bash:
export LC_NUMERIC=en_US
echo $LC_NUMERIC
... then from this terminal, run your program. You can set this variable at the startup of bash by adding the line "export LC_NUMERIC=en_US" at the end of the~/.bashrc
file. To edit this file, for example, rungedit ~/.bashrc &
, add the line in question, save, and relaunch a terminal. Then check that the environment variable is correctly initialized withecho $LC_NUMERIC
.
Good luck-
Thank you very much mamiemando for your response, I was able to fix the problem after asking the question by adding export LC_NUMERIC=en_US in the bash. I was then able to compile my program with GNU Fortran. But I will still save these steps as they will be very useful to me.
My most respectful greetings.
