Optical to RCA, latency, quality?

Hello,

I'm hesitating between 2 speakers that I would like to use for home cinema in addition to their regular uses.

The first one, which I find better, only has one RCA in output. (JBL Partybox 100)

The second one, which I consider slightly worse but more expensive, has an Optical output. (UE Hyperboom)

My TV only has an Optical output.

My question is, is it better to go for the speaker with the Optical output, or will an RCA/optical adapter do the trick to connect the JBL?

I'm worried about the latency between the image and the sound when using the adapter, and of course about the sound quality.

Hi,

Don't confuse input and output, it's either entering or exiting, not both.

That would be one less thing to manage in optical.

There are quality DACs to convert from optical to RCA, it depends on the resources you put into it.

Thank you for your response! Indeed, I wasn't aware of the world around the DAC and digital audio in general, but it seems quite complex to reap all the sonic benefits without taking the time to understand it well and invest in it...

I will probably get the speaker with the optical input :)
