Instagram: my account has been temporarily locked

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to you because, strangely, my account has been locked. "This type of attack is called phishing." "The next steps will allow you to confirm your identity in order to protect your account. You will then be able to log in again."

So far this seems logical, except what is not is that Instagram is sending me a verification code to an address other than the one I usually use to log into my account. It is an old Facebook address for which I no longer have the password. Also, there’s no option to send a message to my phone, which is also properly registered.

Basically, I'm stuck with no way to contact them.

If you have any ideas...

I'm exactly in the same situation as you! I get the same message when I try to log in, and Instagram sends me a code to my old Facebook address that I no longer have access to, and it's impossible to recover it!

So the account will remain active and I won't be able to access it anymore? Can't Instagram support send us a verification code?

He will send you the code to the email address you provided. If you no longer have access to that email and therefore cannot retrieve the verification code, for obvious security reasons, you will not be able to recover your account.

And is there no way to deactivate this account? Does that mean it would remain active all the time and I'm in public too... Instagram must have a way to send us the code to another email address if we prove our identity, like they already asked me to do to change my password, I had to send my face and a code by photo.
