Connecting speakers to LG TV 55UJ620V-ZA

Hello,

I have an LG TV model 55UJ620V-ZA and a pair of Technics hi-fi speakers, and I would like to connect my speakers to my TV. Is this possible? If so, how can I do it?

I am attaching photos of the connections for my speakers and my TV.

    I don't know about the optical output of your TV, but it might be a protective cover that retracts when you plug in the cable,
    For the DAC, yes, connect it to SPDIF and there you can also see that there is a cover but black

    Hello,
    If you plan to connect your speakers directly to the TV, it’s impossible because it doesn't have a headphone output,
    So you will need to use an amplifier; what are your speakers connected to?

    Thank you for your response.

    They are connected to my old hi-fi system, but the amplifier of this hi-fi system is a compact block amplifier + cassette player (yes, I know some of you have never seen such a cassette player, you weren't born yet :) ) that is 30 cm tall!

    I would have liked to connect this pair of speakers to my TV without having to use the old amplifier of my hi-fi system.

    I looked online to buy a new amplifier, but they all seem to be around 43 cm in length, and I only have 39 cm to fit an amplifier in my TV cabinet, what to do?

    For your information, I also have a livebox 3 + TV decoder 3, I don't know if it's easier to connect my speakers to this TV decoder rather than to the TV?

    Don't worry, I was well acquainted with that kind of gadget and was already born, and at home, we listened to records with a "turntable" connected to the PU socket of the radio using banana plugs.
    Are you sure this system doesn't have an auxiliary audio input? Go ahead and take some pictures.

    The issue is that your TV only has a digital optical output,

    Buy a DAC ( = Digital to Analog Converter, in French Convertisseur de numérique à analogique):

    Connect the supplied optical cable between the "Digital Optical" output of the TV and the DAC, then connect the amplifier to the RCA output of the DAC with an RCA cable:

    What is better: to use my old hi-fi amplifier with a DAC or to buy the amplifier from Darty that you mentioned?

    Regarding the amplifier from Darty, does it have a remote control for adjusting the volume? If not, if this amplifier is connected to my TV, can I use the TV remote to adjust the volume of the amplifier, and therefore of my speakers?

    Regardless, unless you buy an amplifier with an optical input, the DAC will be mandatory.
    No, the amplifier mentioned as an example does not seem to have a remote control, but you can look for one online.
    No, your TV remote will not be able to control the volume of the amplifier.
    Your system may be suitable, but I see that all the RCA inputs are occupied...by what, by the way?

    In my first photo above, we can see the "Optical Digital Audio Out" jack of my TV, but it has a white part that looks like paper/plastic; should I remove it?

    You say I need to connect the provided optical cable (with the DAC) between the "Digital Optical Out" on the TV and the DAC; do I need to plug this optical cable into the jack labeled SPDIF (which is indicated on the back image of the DAC on this page https://www.amazon.fr/analogique-convertisseur-adaptateur-amplificateurs-dalimentation/dp/B00KNNSKV0/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1508597697&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=audio+dac&psc=1)?

    For aesthetic reasons, all my devices (Livebox, TV decoder, PS4, etc.) are black, so I will buy a black amplifier.     The problem with the amplifier of my hi-fi system is that the amp + cassette player block is monobloc and it measures approximately 23 cm in height.

    I have two compartments in my TV stand, each with a height of 24 cm. I need to fit into these two compartments: 1 Livebox + 1 TV decoder + 1 PS4 + 1 DVD player + 1 amplifier. It's not possible to fit all this equipment into my two compartments if I use the amplifier from my hi-fi system because it alone takes up an entire compartment (it's chubby) :)

    I have connected the amplifier from my hi-fi system to my TV decoder via RCA to output the sound from the Orange TV to my speakers, and there is also an RCA connection on this amplifier for a radio tuner and a DVD player.

    But it's a total mess at your place! ...;)
    Your TV has three HDMI inputs and if you connect it to
    1 the TV decoder
    2 the PS4
    3 the DVD

    Optical output from the TV -> DAC
    then RCA output from the DAC to a free input on your stereo, and it would be simpler without having to buy another amplifier, and the sound from the decoder, the PS4, and the DVD would be played through the stereo

    I see the type of setup you recommend, it seems pretty good to me but there’s still the issue of the dimensions of my amp + cassette player, which is too tall. I think I need to buy a shorter amp + the DAC and then I could set up what you describe.

    In your opinion, can this karaoke amp https://www.darty.com/nav/achat/mp/hifi_video/elements_separes/amplificateur/ltc_ampli_mfa_noir_karaoke_2_x_50w_usb_bluetooth__MK109326502.html serve as an amp if I connect my two speakers + the RCA output from the DAC?

      Big disappointment, it's not working!

      Apparently with this amp I only have 3 possible inputs: DVD, USB or bluetooth.

      Dumb question, did you power the DAC? Is the "power" light on?
      It should be connected to the "DVD" RCA input of the amplifier and make sure to switch to this input.

      Yes, the DAC was well powered, the power light was on.

      I connected the cable to the "Optical Digital Audio Out" port on my TV and to the SPIDF port on the DAC, I plugged the USB cable into the DAC and connected it to a power outlet (with an adapter), I connected the RCA cable to the DAC and linked the other end of this cable to the amplifier, I connected the 2 wires of my speakers to the amplifier and powered on the amplifier, I turned on my TV but no sound is coming from my speakers...

    Check the TV's audio menu to see if you need to activate the optical output by selecting "external speakers" or something like that...

      Yes. There were several possible output options (internal TV speaker, optical audio output HDMI ARC, LG sound sync optical, etc...) for sound output, I tried them all but there was no sound on my speakers.

    You must choose "LG Sound Sync (optical)
    When you look at the optical input of your TV:
    You should see a red light
    And if you connect an optical cable, you should see this light at the other end of the cable

      On both of them, General
      At the TV output to check that the optical is properly selected
      If so, at the end of the cable once connected to check that the fiber is not broken

      Yes, there is indeed a red light on both the TV socket "Optical Digital Audio Out" and at the end of the cable.

      Do you know how to deselect an option from the sound menu on my TV? By default, the "Internal TV Speaker" is selected, but how do I deselect "Internal TV Speaker" and select only "LG Sound Sync (optical)"?

      If you look at the back of the amplifier, it says for the audio input "DVD"; doesn't that mean that this amp can only receive a DVD as a source input?

      Indeed, the CIA is right:
      "According to information provided by LG, the Sound Sync feature relies on a specific Bluetooth transmission technology. Depending on the models, the Bluetooth module may be built into the TV or not; in the latter case, a compatible optional USB dongle is necessary to use this feature. LG specifies that the sound transmitted via this function can only be supported by compatible external LG Sound Sync audio devices (some home theaters and some soundbars, for example). "
      So it is indeed "audio output" that needs to be selected just above.

      I'm sorry for not responding earlier, but I was on a business trip.

      I tested by selecting "audio output (HDMI optical)," but there’s still no sound coming from the speakers.

      I can select "audio output (HDMI optical)" through the TV menu, but then I can't deselect this option or another one! The "internal TV speaker" remains checked; I can't uncheck it with my remote.

      Moreover, once I check "audio output (HDMI optical)," I exit the menu and go back, and the "audio output (HDMI optical)" option is unchecked!

      Here’s my remote; to check an option, I press the "OK" button, but if I press this same button to uncheck the option, it doesn't work. I've tried quite a few buttons, but impossible to uncheck an option that has been checked. Which button should I press to uncheck an option?

    Something isn't right... I suggest doing a "reset" or "factory settings reset" or "initial configuration" (see menu), but you will have to redo all the installation and settings.

      I connected the amplifier to my Livebox with an RCA cable and it works now :)

      I will stick with this setup.
