I messed up my decoder... how can I get back the settings that I didn't note down... thank you

    And if you could tell us a little more about your decoder? (brand, model) do you still have access to the menu?
    If so, look in the menu for: "factory reset" or "reset" or even "default settings" and try to confirm the request.

    That should be enough.
