Hello,

I would like to ask for your help.
I bought a soundbar, which only has an optical output, no HDMI... When I connect it through the TV, no problem, it works, when I connect it through my console, no problem either... But with the Blu-ray DVD player, it doesn’t work.

The DVD player only has an HDMI output, nothing else.
My TV has an optical output and three HDMI outputs (one ARC).

Thank you in advance for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 59.0

    Hello,
It's not normal, if it works with the console, it should work with the player...
Have you tried another HDMI input? (and not outputs)
Does the sound come from the TV speakers?

Hello, thank you for this feedback already.

Quick question, maybe a silly one. A TV has either HDMI inputs or outputs, right? I'm not very knowledgeable about this.

Yes, the sound does come from the TV for my DVD player.

A TV only has HDMI inputs, and only the HDMI ARC is a video input that also ensures sound output to a home theater system, for example (ARC = Audio Return Channel, in French canal de retour audio).

Alright, thank you for the clarification.

I tried reversing the cable positions between my player and my console, it still doesn't work.

Last thing, defective HDMI cable? Have you tried the console cable that works on the DVD?

Yes, I just tried but it still doesn’t work. It might be that the player doesn’t take the sound bars into account?
