Hello, I bought a 250GB Thomson external hard drive USB 3.0. I can open it with my Galaxy S7 and see what's on it, and I can hear the hard drive spinning.
The problem is that my Galaxy Tab 10.1 SM-T800 doesn't detect it; the screen just lights up when I plug in the hard drive, but nothing more.
The hard drive makes clicking sounds when connected to the tablet, while on the S7 I can hear it spinning well.

The hard drive is formatted in FAT32, and I have tested it with several OTG cables and the Samsung OTG adapter.

I used to have a 500GB Memup external hard drive USB 2.0 that worked very well on my tablet, but it has died.

If anyone has any idea what the problem is, that would be great.
Thank you.

Hi,

In my opinion, it's the USB power supply that isn't strong enough on the tablet, especially if the hard drive doesn't have its own power supply.

You need 5 volts via USB to power an external device like a hard drive.
