Hello,
I think the title of the post is pretty clear, but I’ll explain just in case...
My PC is an Asus R752L with Windows 10 and I’ve upgraded the memory to 12 GB.
When I use it, if I want the battery to charge, I have to start the PC in Battery Mode (not plugged into the mains), otherwise it doesn’t charge. And the worst part is that when I shut it down, the charging stops...
Is this normal or not??

I have already bought a new power cable with the transformer, here https://www.accessoires-asus.com/chargeur-slim-90w-version-boite-64163-2158.htm#R752LK
It’s the same as the original, but it’s still the same!

Any tips or advice please?
Thank you.

PS: the PC is no longer under warranty.

Configuration: Intel Core I7 - 2.60GHz - 12GB RAM - 1TB HDD - GTX 850

Hi

So you need to start it on battery and then plug it in to charge the battery if I understand correctly?

(PC on) What happens if you remove the power cable and then put it back?

(PC on) What happens if you leave it plugged in and then remove the battery and put it back?

The battery is integrated, but you should perform this test; it will help you know if there is an issue with your charging circuit or with the battery.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.
If I remove and reconnect the power supply (with the PC on), everything works perfectly as long as I've previously started the PC in Battery Mode and not in AC Mode.
As for your second question, I can't remove the battery with the PC on for three reasons: 1- the battery is integrated 2- you never remove a battery from a powered-on PC 3- the power connector is located in front of the internal battery (so it's impossible to remove it without turning off the PC).

See you later

Re

Have you checked on the Asus support site with your model r752L + a missing letter after the L
You will find this reference written in small under the PC (no need for the suffix after the hyphen -)
See if there is a BIOS update available

I have already completed all the updates.
I therefore downloaded the "ASUS PC Diagnostics" from the ASUS website and sent them a report.
I should hear from them within 48 hours according to the email I received.
I will keep you updated on their response.
Thanks anyway to everyone.

Response from Asus

Hello Mr. XXXXXX,
Thank you for reaching out to ASUS support.

From your message about the R752LK model, I understand that you are experiencing a battery charging issue and that you have to turn on the computer and plug in the charger to charge the battery.

Based on your description Mr. XXXXXX, I would like to inform you that the issue may be due to electrostatic discharge on the motherboard or a recent change in the BIOS settings.

To resolve the issue, I invite you to proceed as follows, in order of priority for the actions to be taken: first, perform electrostatic discharge which involves draining the capacitors on the motherboard of any potential electrical overload, then reset the BIOS settings to default (the program that manages the various peripherals of the computer).

I- Electrostatic discharge:

1- Shut down the computer and unplug the charger.
2- Hold down the Power button for 20-30 seconds (to discharge the motherboard)
3- Plug the charger back in.

II- The default BIOS:

1- Keep the computer turned off.
2- Tap F2 even while the computer is off.
3- While tapping F2, turn on the computer.
4- You will access the BIOS, press F9 to load the default settings, YES and Enter
5- Press F10 to save changes, YES and Enter.

The computer will restart automatically, and I invite you to test the stability of the computer.

Mr. XXXXXX, I remain at your disposal for any further questions and wish you a good day.

So as I suspected, no miracle solution other than changing the battery... and even then, without certainty.
I still posted their response as it may be a solution for others... you never know.

I close the post without having the solution to "my" problem.
