Error F--

Hello,

I've had a Nikon D80 for quite a few years
with two lenses
a 28-80 and a 70-300

currently, when I attach the first one, I get the error F-- but not with the second lens
I turned the ring thinking I might have accidentally moved it but it didn't fix the issue
I detached and reattached it but no luck
and no issues with the second lens
do you have any idea, please?

Thank you

Hello: The symbol "F--" means that there is no objective, I would suggest cleaning the contacts of the lens and the camera
clean the contacts on the lens and on the body with a cotton swab and 90% alcohol.

      Hello jpcron
I just cleaned everything and the error is still there
If I change the lens, no problem, it's really this one that is causing the issue
But I've thoroughly cleaned both the camera and the lens, hoping for the best
But no, still getting the F--
If you have any ideas, I'm all ears
      Thanks

So there’s a problem with the lens, we need to try it on another camera body, I hope you’ll be able to solve your issue!!!

Thank you, I will try when my brother-in-law comes
I think I've found my Christmas gift ;-)
Have a great holiday season, thanks again.
