My Canon Pixma MG 5550 printer is no longer printing text.

Problem solved, and in an even simpler way.... I just had to replace the PGBK cartridge (large black) that was empty. Indeed, what Canon doesn't mention anywhere is that the small black cartridge is used for color printing, and it does not substitute for the empty PGBK.
The latter, on the other hand, can replace the small format if it is empty.
So, cartridge changed, correct B&W text printing, QED.... !
I still followed Stargate's advice and uninstalled/cleaned/reinstalled, which couldn't have done any harm. And I thank him for his quick response, which demonstrates the usefulness of this forum.

I assume you received an installation CD with the printer?

If that's the case, I suggest uninstalling everything related to the printer from the PC, running Ccleaner to eliminate any traces in the registry, it will be as if the printer was never installed on the PC.

And finally, reinstall the printer using the installation CD.

I’m not saying this is THE solution, but it’s one of the possibilities.

If you have never used Ccleaner, I suggest you carefully follow the tutorial before performing any operations ;-)
