The scanner of the HP DeskJet 2130 printer is not working.

Hello,

Cannot properly install the scanner of an HP DeskJet 2130 printer.

When clicking on the "HP Scan" software, the following message appears:

"HP DeskJet2130 series not found" (ironic).

The corresponding device is not installable or uninstallable; the following message appears:

"Windows could not load the installer for Image. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance."

I used a HP utility called "HPDiagnosticCoreUI.exe" which yielded nothing except to say that the imaging device is not properly installed - laughable.

For reference
  • I installed/uninstalled the infamous SP3 with no success (it is confirmed unfortunately that this 300MB thing is useless)
  • after several hours of struggle, I managed to reinstall FrameWork 2.0 and install FrameWork 3.5 with no success
  • I updated twain.dll and twain_32.dll with no success
  • I updated imm32.dll with no success
  • I installed all available versions of the driver downloaded from the HP site with no success


In short, I don't know what to do anymore.

Please suggest a lead.

Configuration: OS=WinXPSP2(ProbablySP3ButProbablyNever)+MRT.exe (MostUpToDateVersion)
Browser= Opera preferred and Firefox if needed.

    Hello...

    If you can print from your PC, and if you can make direct copies without going through the PC, then try this:
    start, programs, accessories, PAINT, click at the top left and "from a scanner or camera"....

      I actually have an '.exe' called PaintDotNet.exe that I hardly use, preferring MSPaint.exe to take screenshots in particular (which is quite simpler to use and works in a somewhat chaotic way, but we can live with it)

      Following your advice, I indeed found in PaintDotNet a function called "File\Acquire\From a scanner or camera" (camera = DigitalCamera probably?) (This function "looks" strikingly similar to an analogous one in the image editing software "IPhotoExpress" that I use a lot, particularly for scanning using scanners that actually work well)

      The following message then appears:
      "The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) library file Wiaaut.dll is not available; Contact ..etc for troubleshooting information "

      Of course, I searched the PC to see if I had wiaaut.dll somewhere, and given a negative search, I downloaded an (uncertain and probably too recent) version of wiaaut.dll from "topdll.com"

      So I "scattered" copies of wiaaut.dll in all the directories/folders that could potentially be the incriminated one

      In the end, the command "File\Acquire\From a scanner or camera" still results in the same message; none of the wiaaut.dll files seem to have been recognized

      I would like to add two points;
      • Firstly, it is very possible if not certain that the wiaaut.dll files are not the correct version
      • On the other hand, during the printer installation, a '.inf' file titled jenesaispasquoi'WIA'.inf appears; I am going to try reinstalling the printer using this '.inf' file (forcing the use of jenesaispasquoi'WIA'.inf)
