is it possible to watch a video from my external hard drive on my PS4 via USB?

Thank you, but the issue is that as soon as I connect my external hard drive to the console, it's as if it is not recognized; I cannot access it…

Check on your PC that the hard drive is formatted in Fat32 and not NTFS. If not, use DLNA locally. Files are present on your PC.

But don't format before copying your files elsewhere. After that, it's gone.
