Hello,

following the update (optional Windows updates), my PC (Asus) won't turn on; the following message appears:
Your system found unauthorized changes to the firmware, operating system, or UEFI. Press [N] to run the next boot device, or enter directly to the BIOS setup if there are no other boot devices installed. Go to BIOS setup>Advanced>Boot and change the current boot device into other secured boot devices.
I press N, but it doesn't work...
can someone tell me what to do?
thank you very much in advance.
Marie

Hello Marie9175. My daughter also encountered this problem on her PC, and I had to resort to setting the BIOS to "other OS." However, like others, I'm looking for an explanation as nothing was changed on the machine. You mentioned Windows updates just before the issue arose. Do you have the ability to check the update history and list the IDs of the updates that were installed just before this bug? That would allow me to continue my investigation... Thank you in advance.

I'm taking the opportunity to say that this solution resolves the issue.

A Windows update indeed crashes the UEFI of the BIOS: https://www.comptoir-hardware.com/actus/cartes-meres/31475-microsoft-fait-planter-luefi-des-mobales-asus-avec-une-mise-a-jour-pour-windows-7.html

This concerns a specific update, the 3133977.

"After installing update 3133977 on a Windows 7 x64 system that includes an ASUS motherboard, the system fails to boot, and it generates a security initialization error on the ASUS BIOS screen. This issue occurs because ASUS has allowed the motherboard to enable secure booting, even though Windows 7 does not support this feature."

To resolve this: enter the BIOS by pressing DEL or F2 then Advanced Mode Menu->Boot->Secure Boot. OS type => Other OS.

Hoping this helps some people.
