What does it change if I plan to buy a PC without an OS?

I plan to buy this PC: https://www.materiel.net/pc-de-bureau/l402/, recommended for playing League of Legends, but the PC doesn't have an OS and "apparently" that's a disadvantage :/ I've found some forums on this topic but they are often incomprehensible. I'm in a hurry, my birthday is on August 22 and I need to have my PC before :)

Best regards

Hello,

OS = operating system = système d'exploitation (Windows / MacOS / Ubuntu, Debian, etc...)

So when you buy the machine alone, without a pre-installed OS. It's designed to lower the displayed price and let you have free choice. In your case, you need to buy a Windows license (7 or 8.1) and install Windows manually.

+1 too

I would also add that if you want Windows, you will need to purchase a license for 7 or 8.1 (around €120) or get it illegally...

Otherwise, there is Ubuntu, which is a free OS. However, it is less common and less aesthetically pleasing.

Thank you for these quick and very understanding answers - Nicolas - and arthur9013, so you advise me to buy a PC with an OS, but I can't find that kind of PC elsewhere (not too expensive, optimized for League of Legends, and portable). If someone can help me find a PC (monitor not included) for a price not exceeding €700, that would be great. Also, how much does a Windows 7 64-bit license cost?

Around €100 for a Windows 7 Home Premium

But what made you decide to get this PC? Because its only advantage is its compactness; you can get much better for €700 by opting for a standard-sized tower.

From 550 to 600 Euros, you can get a good gaming PC without an OS. So, a ready-made one with the OS for 700 is doable.

Is this one good? https://www.materiel.net/pc-de-bureau/l402/

The OS is the operating system, so performance will certainly be disadvantageous. Therefore, I advise you not to take the one without an OS, as the PC would have difficulty managing applications and everything. If it exists, get the version with an OS.

It makes no sense what you're saying...

A PC without an OS is not operational because it won't start, logically. Have you ever seen someone walking down the street without a brain?

Moreover, in the case where the OS is provided or not, and if they install it, it amounts to the same thing...

Laugh*

Without an OS, it's no wonder you're having trouble with the apps XD

Sorry, but you can just check if a computer without an operating system sells; it works fine, but I'm not sure what we could do with it.

To respond without an OS, a PC is not "complete"; you can only navigate through the BIOS...

it's like you're removing all your hard drives, even the internal ones. Do it and you'll see what you can really do XD
