Pilotes audio (SoundMAX) XP 64 bits pour Lenovo T60 ; ACPI

Solved
Hello,
I have an old Lenovo T60 laptop on which I have installed Windows XP 64-bit. After some difficulties, I managed to install almost all the drivers, except for the sound card; I've been struggling with this card for a week.

Do you have any idea how to install the correct driver?
Hardware: Lenovo T60,
CPU: Intel T7200 (Core 2 Duo 64 bit)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP x64 Edition
Audio: SoundMAX 1981

Thank you
Configuration: Windows 2003 / Chrome 33.0.1750.117

    Hello,

    You could try the following:

    Hello,

    1.
    Make sure your XP is at least XP SP2
    2.
    Determine which version of your SoundMAX is installed: for your Thinkpad T60, the most recent version is Version 5.10.1.4326
    Source https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/77a224ww.txt
    3.
    Driver update:
    3.1. Restart your system and log in as Administrator
    3.2. Click on http://support.lenovo.com/fr_FR/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-62928
    3.3. Category: select Audio
    3.4. Operating System: select Windows XP
    3.5. Read the installation instructions in the README
    3.6. To install the driver 77a224ww.exe, first save it in your Downloads folder and then click on the folder - where you just downloaded it - to run the update.

    If it doesn't work, there is a prior uninstallation procedure here: Uninstallation instructions

    Best regards.

      Hello,

      If it still doesn't work:

      Go to Start
      Run
      Type: devmgmt.msc and click OK.

      Right-click on the problematic device
      Properties
      Details tab
      Provide the hardware ID number.

      To find the ID number, look -->> here <<--

      1. I've already tried all its operations :/
        Just to remind you, it's for the 64-bit version of Windows XP for which I can't find the driver. It is indeed on SP2. I have also tried drivers for Vista 64 and Server 2003, but nothing works. I even reinstalled Windows (formatted the disk) just in case it was stuck

        Thanks to the hardware identification, I was able to determine the brand of the sound card, SoundMax from AnalogDevice, reference 1981, but the manufacturer's website for drivers is not functioning.

        So here is the identification number. I

          Download and install --> 7Zip 64 bit

          Download this driver --> Audio
          and put it in your documents.

          Right-click on --> 77a324ww.exe
          Choose --> 7Zip
          Choose --> extract to 77a324ww

          Go to Device Manager.
          Right-click on the device
          Update Driver
          No, not this time, next
          Install from a list or specific location, next
          Include this location in the search
          Browse
          Go to your documents
          Go to the unzipped driver folder --> 77a324ww
          Folder --> amd64
          Select the folder --> vista
          Next, etc...
          Restart.

            Re,

            Try this driver that I selected based on your VEN_11D4&DEV_1981:

              EDIT
              Darn it dear kaneagle: I realize I'm stepping on your toes... :(

              Willou, please do what kaneagle asked in his previous post.

          2. Ah, here, my message wasn't posted...

            Thank you, thank you, and thank you kaneagle, I followed your instructions (since it was the first reply I read) and it's working. Yet, it's not the first Windows XP64 I've installed, but you're way better than I am :)
            - So, is it due to the driver or the way of doing it (7-ZIP)? Because I was using the original Windows ZIP

            CCMclaude Thank you too for doing some research.
            - One question though, since I'm curious (and I still have an ACPI driver to find), how did you do your research based on the code I gave you?

              - One question nonetheless, as I am curious (and I still have an ACPI driver to find), how did you conduct your research based on the code I gave you?

              By using this resource: http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=id
              You focus on [ search vendors ] and [ search devices ]

              In the case that concerned you, your indications provided the identification number
              HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1981&SUBSYS_17AA2025&REV_1002

              VEN_11D4 (VEN= Vendor)
              DEV_1981 (DEV= Device)

              You will paste 11D4 in the search vendors field of the resource http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=id and hit Enter
              This gives you the Vendor Search Results
              Vendor Id Vendor Name:
              0x11D4 Analog Devices, Inc.

              You will paste 1981 in the search devices field of the resource http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=id and hit Enter
              This gives you Device Search Results:
              Device Id Chip Description Vendor Id Vendor Name
              0x3009 AC'97 Audio Controller 0x1106 VIA Technologies, Inc.

            2. Thank you for the very detailed explanation. For over 20 years, I've been building and tinkering with PCs (I'm only 36 years old), apart from knowing how to install drivers under DOS and Windows 3.1, I really learned something very interesting. It’s the solution to many problems.

            It was due to the driver.
            What is the ACPI identification number?

            Best regards, CCMclaude

            1. Indeed, I reformat my hard drive to make a cleaner installation (I noted all the steps that worked) and I used the usual method to install the drivers (Windows zip). I don't even need to create a "C:\Drivers" folder to unzip the files anymore.

            Hi Kan! ;)

            Do you have any comments, corrections, or clarifications about the following response that the ACPI driver requested by Willou for the Lenovo T60?

            >>>

            ACPI?
            First, check the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Configuration_and_Power_Interface to understand what it is about

            Then, for your Lenovo T60 running XP, see here:

            4. Everything is there; !!! Take note of the READMEs for installation!!!

            Best regards

            1. Alright, I'll check that since I found an ATM1200 application on Google that, once installed, finds the device driver. So, I have this application running in the background. The Lenovo patch seems more suitable, at least cleaner.

              I'll keep you updated.

              Hello CCMClaude,

              It needs to be a driver for 64 bits

              @ willou

              Do you still have a question mark for the ACPI?

              If so, what is the ACPI identifier number?
              0
            3. There, it's set up by installing "Atmel-WinAll-drp", my device is installed.

              To answer your question:
              - location: on PCI standard ISA Bridge
              - details: ACPI\ATM1200\4&38462492&0

              I admit that I'm a bit lost on this point, but it's Microsoft's fault for only specifying 32/64 starting from Vista!!!

              There aren't always drivers for XP 64-bit.
              You need to take the Vista, Windows 7 64-bit versions and install them manually
              But that doesn't mean it will work.

              See you later.

            1. Yes yes, but isn't there a cleaner way than installing Atmel-WinAll-drp?

              Otherwise, unrelated to the drivers, there's a RAM issue (3GB detected instead of 4), a little optimization (registry, services, msconfig...) and everything will be fine.

            If there are no more alerts in the device manager, you can mark the issue as resolved.

            Have a nice day.

              Since you initiated the topic and received at least one response, you should be able to mark the topic as resolved! You can do this (almost) right above the post, to the left, by clicking on Mark as resolved!!!
