I appear to be online on Facebook even though I'm not.

Hello,

This is not the first time this week that someone has come to tell me that I am online on Facebook when I am not.

I have friends who come to talk to me early in the morning or during classes asking what I'm doing online, no one gets a response and their messages haven't been seen. I only see their messages after I've returned from class and I have no choice but to tell them it was a mistake, I wasn't on Facebook at that time.

Why do people see me online for no reason?

I suspect hacking, but I haven't had any problems until now.
Maybe it's a Facebook display bug? I don't really understand...

Do you have any ideas?

Hello,

Do you log out of Facebook by properly logging out from the site or do you just close the page?
I know that even when leaving the page or otherwise, you still remain logged in a bit.

Then make sure that no other devices (phone, another PC, ...) are logged in to your account.

I have this problem too but with my phone, I am on my phone with Wi-Fi, I go on the Internet etc., but I don't go on Facebook yet people can see me online! Does anyone have an explanation?

You just need to properly log out of Facebook, not just leave Facebook by closing the page, and if the problem persists, you should check on another device (tablet, smartphone, PC, etc.) that your Facebook is not logged in elsewhere.

And yes, my man had been sleeping next to me for thirty minutes and I saw him active on Facebook
We don't live together, so it's happened that I wonder what he was doing online when he should have been sleeping

Same for my daughter, I have her tablet downstairs
She's been sleeping for a long time and now it shows her as active "1 min"

So there you go... be careful, it can cause problems
