Hello everyone!
I'm desperately seeking help. My daughter vomited on the keyboard of my HP Pavilion dm1 laptop, which is my work computer. I'm going to get yelled at.
She was watching a cartoon in the car. I didn't have anything specific at the time of the disaster on the side of the road to clean it up. I just removed the larger bits with paper towels. I turned it off. I tried to turn it back on when I got home, but there was no response at all. After searching online, I managed today (3 days later) to disassemble the keyboard. But now I don't know what to do. What product should I use? What materials (cloth, paper towels, cotton swabs...) should I have? Should I remove the keys or soak it directly? What precautions should I take? In short, I don’t know anything about this and I have no idea what to do.

Hi,
The keys in soapy water (not dishwasher, that will wipe everything out).
The keyboard itself: with a soft brush and a bit of alcohol if needed. Nothing damp, nothing that makes lint.
Warning: vomit is bile and bile is acidic. It's not impossible that the keyboard is ruined. If that's the case, I suggest you buy a standard USB keyboard for 5 Euros at Carouf.
I'm going to get scolded.
If that's the case, you can rightly consider your employer a jerk and get out as fast as possible. If there's one thing that costs nothing and has been amortized for years in a company, it's a laptop...
