Can you set up an Nvidia 3D Vision system on a 3D LED TV?

Hello, I have a 27" LG 3D computer monitor and I want to replace it with a 3D LED TV, but I have a 3D Vision system and I wanted to know if it would be compatible with the TV??? I don't think so, but you never know. Otherwise, I have another question; I also wanted to know, of course if it's compatible, whether the 3D Vision 2 glasses were compatible with the system of the 1???

    So no, not directly.
    You need to go through 3DTV Play, which is the equivalent of 3D VISION but adapted for 3D TVs.

    If you already have the 3D VISION KIT on your PC, then you just need to connect your PC to your TV, keep the 3D VISION IR emitter plugged into your PC to let the PC know that you have indeed purchased the 3D VISION KIT, and 3DTV Play will automatically activate (since it is free for those who purchased the 3D VISION KIT).

    However, if you do not have a 3D VISION KIT, then you will need to purchase the 3DTV Play software separately from the NVIDIA website (about €30) to activate the 3D features on your TV through your PC.

    In the end, you will have the same functions as with 3D VISION on PC. However, you will have to use the glasses from your 3D TV, and you will be limited to 24 frames per second (per eye) in FullHD or 60 frames per second if you drop down to 720.

      I can confirm Rachouski's response.
      I had the same issue and contacted Nvidia to see if there's a solution: Unfortunately, as of today, the kit does not work on a 3D TV but will activate 3D TV Play when connected to a PC. The only thing we can do is suggest to Nvidia to make this kit compatible with a 3D TV. As for quality, it’s the same: either we have 24Hz with 1080p (which quickly hurts the eyes) or 60Hz with 720p. In terms of quality, you should choose 720p because 1080p looks like 720p.
      If you do not intend to get a 3D compatible monitor or another compatible device, you should try to get a refund for the kit and buy 3D TV Play which will cost you less. (Before following this procedure, I would test this device on a 3D projector to see if it works; if so, I will find a way to get 3D TV Play for free since I would have bought the kit).

    Thank you, Rachouski, for your response. It almost answers my question... I want to make sure that the TV won't transform the signal so that the glasses will only get a maximum of 60Hz instead of the 120Hz of the 3D Vision??? That's the question...
    Otherwise, I understand that with just the pair of 3D Vision glasses and some software, it should be enough to get an adequate signal, so no need for the NVIDIA sensor???

      I don't quite understand your story about the signal.
      But basically, it will activate 3DTV Play. The 3D image is sent in frame packing, so the left and right images are sent at the same time, at 60Hz, then the TV displays the images one after the other, at 120Hz like any 3D display.
      You will need to use the glasses from your 3D TV.

      And by buying the software for €30, no, you do not need the NVIDIA IR emitter.

      But I could use it with the NVIDIA glasses??!! In fact, if I understand correctly, all active 3D displays are at 120Hz or higher, and passive ones only go up to 60Hz max, is that right?

      Well, I just read quite a bit on the Nvidia site about 3D TV Play and all the other formats or connections, etc. In short, I finally have a somewhat convincing answer. Indeed, if my TV is compatible with the 1.4a 1080p24 and 720p50/60 formats, it can be used with the 3DTV Play software. Otherwise, I'll need to use the glasses with the 3D Vision sensor...
      Thank you for your help, especially Rachouski, you guided me where I needed to go.
      However, it's strange that the Nvidia site doesn't mention that the GTX 780 card is compatible with 3DTV Play; is it because it was released after they made the listings??? I think so, but the problem is that to ask Nvidia or EVGA, you have to speak English or German. They don't have a number for French speakers!!! So we'll see...

      You ask too many questions!

      The NVIDIA glasses only work with the 3D VISION KIT, and the 3D VISION KIT only works on a PC connected to a 3D VISION compatible monitor or projector, which is not the case for a 3D TV.
      To get the same features as 3D VISION but on your 3D TV, you need the 3DTV Play software.
      It is paid, but free for those who have already purchased a 3D VISION KIT.
      Once this software is purchased and installed, you simply need to connect your PC to your 3D TV via HDMI, and then you can play in 3D or watch 3D movies from your PC.
      And as with all 3D TVs, you will need to use the 3D glasses provided with your TV.

      If you already have the 3D VISION KIT, you do not need to purchase 3DTV Play. However, for the latter to activate for free, you need to prove to your PC that you have indeed purchased the 3D VISION KIT, and to do that, the only way is to leave the NVIDIA IR emitter connected, but it will only serve this purpose, not to synchronize the NVIDIA glasses, so in any case, with your 3D TV, you will need to use the 3D glasses provided with your 3D TV.

      EDIT:
      You need to check if your card is 3D VISION compatible. If so, then it is definitely compatible with 3DTV Play ;)
      And that is indeed the case with your 780!

As for the card, I think it's clear given its price, but regarding the 3D Vision glasses, I actually won't be using them anymore, so I might as well sell them. It bothers me; I just bought them.     The question is not whether the TV will work with the computer; I know that is possible since I am already doing it, but will the 3D Vision system work with the TV???

      Ah ok, sorry, I misunderstood then.
      When purchasing your TV, make sure it's active 3D (battery-powered glasses); technically, the NVIDIA Vision 2 glasses are active glasses and therefore compatible with an active 3D TV.
      If the TV offers at least an HDMI 1.4 port, there shouldn't be any problem.

    Hi, I'd also like to use a TV to play Battlefield in 3D (and other games).

    Is there a big difference between a 3D monitor and a 3D TV for gaming? I'm thinking about things like 3D rendering, input lag, and refresh rate... does one outweigh the other?

    If I understand correctly, I need a 3D TV with an active 3D system and its glasses + a graphics card that supports 3D (like a GeForce GTX760) + the 3DTV Play software (which costs 30 euros).

    Technically, I mean technically, if you connect your PC to the TV to use it as a computer screen, it should work.
