I always appear online or "active" on my Facebook. Solved

Hello,

I've noticed a problem for a few days. I always appear online as soon as I log into my Facebook. However, on my computer, I've clicked on "turn off chat" and I thought I was offline to friends. Yet, my friends message me and they see me "online". I tested it with my cell phone. I'm on my daughter's account and I see myself online as soon as I log in with my computer even if I've clicked on "turn off chat" in the gear icon at the bottom left.

What should I do? Is this a bug that others are experiencing too? Is there another place I need to configure so I can check my Facebook without everyone knowing?

I logged out of my Facebook account on my cell phone and Messenger as well, but nothing changes.

It seems that the issue has been resolved by Facebook...  Rofixe, to check, ask one of your contacts to tell you if they can see you online even when you think you're appearing offline! ;)

Hi, this problem is probably due to a bad move. When you disable yourself, you didn't disable the chat for ALL your friends. There you go =)

The best solution I've found is to click on the gear at the bottom of the instant chat and then click on advanced settings, then check "enable instant chat for certain people." I chose a contact who rarely comes on Facebook. So, I appear "offline" to all my other contacts.

There you go! If anyone has a better solution, please help us out!

Indeed, I have the same problem since the beginning of June. By the way, it's not everyone who sees you online, but only your friends who are connected via a mobile phone. As for me, I've been looking for solutions since then, but apparently there aren't any yet, so I ignore those I don’t want to talk to or I respond late. And the fact that you go to the gear icon at the bottom to adjust anything doesn't help the problem at all, because those connected on their phones will always see you. The solution I propose is to wait for Facebook to remedy this.
