Hello,

My grandmother used to sing a song whose title I can't remember. I only recall the following verse:

Think of your mama, your good old mama
Who cried so often in secret,
You used to question me, remember my boy,
I would reply: It's just a headache,
I didn't want you to know that I was an unwed mother
A man promised me the sweetest vows
He abandoned me when he became your father
You're just a worker, think of your mama.

If someone could provide me with the title of this song, as well as all the lyrics, I would be delighted.

In the meantime, and

Best regards

    Hello Caroline and Sophie,
Thank you for giving me the lyrics to this song, which reminds me of the song my Dad used to sing to me when I was little. I have it in full on an audio cassette from a family party, but I can't copy it and sing it to my grandchildren. So now I've copied it, and I will print it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Here’s my email: ***@*** if you need other old songs. I have quite a few because my grandmother rocked me to sleep with her songs, and I'm 83 years old, so don't hesitate to contact me. And thank you again, Eliane

      Hello, Davina or Eliane?

It's a funny coincidence, I hadn't been back to this site since 2013 and now, for no reason, just like that, three years later, it came back to my mind and I decided to check if Coline had seen the lyrics of the song I sent her and I see your comment from just a month ago. I'm 52 years old and it was my grandparents who sang a lot of old French songs. Are you French? I'm Québécoise.

I'm very happy to have pleased you.

      Sophie
