Hello,
I am reaching out to your kind and generous souls. I am currently using Word 2007 and I often use "Page Breaks" (I insert a page break at each chapter change to avoid mixing everything up). However, since this morning, whenever I press the Enter key to go to the next line, it makes me jump an entire page! And I have to scroll back to my last line to press the Delete key to get rid of that annoying blank page. I just want to do a basic line break, nothing too complicated...
Do you see any solution?
Thank you in advance!

Hello Marine
First, press Ctrl+Shift+8 to see all formatting marks, including paragraphs ¶
Right-click on the paragraph where the Enter creates a page break: Paragraph / Line and Page Breaks tab / and uncheck "Page break before"
And to check if you might have also added this page break in the style of this paragraph, display the Styles pane: Home tab / Styles group / small arrow at the bottom of the group. Left-click on the style / modify / format / paragraph....
However, for the page breaks before each chapter, this option will be useful. Use a heading style (Heading 1 for example) that you apply to the chapter titles, and then check this option on the style... and you won't need to do manual page breaks anymore

So I applied your first solution, it works GREAT. THANK YOU! Then I checked the styles I use (because, on top of that, that idiot Word created several for me) and there was no problem. As for your tip regarding titles, since I don't use titles, I don't think that would be useful for me, but I will follow your approach, create a new document with the numbers of my chapters and a specific style!
Thanks again for your help!
Marine
"(because on top of that, that idiot Word created several for me)":
No Marine, Word provides a list of predefined styles. Very handy. Whether the user applies them or not... but it doesn't create them by itself...
"since I don't use headings, I don't think it would be useful to me":
Well yes, actually. You MUST use the heading styles that you apply to your different headings according to the hierarchy (Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3...).
When you want to modify the formatting of these headings, when you want to create the table of contents for your document, etc... Word, you won't call it an idiot anymore, but you'll say THANK YOU! ;-))

I couldn’t manage to remove the page breaks, but that’s done now!
You are amazing
