Not all WhatsApp contacts are showing up

Hello,
I am currently in England and I downloaded WhatsApp, but I don't understand why I can't see some of my contacts. I've checked everything a thousand times, I can message friends in France and the USA but for some reason I can't find certain contacts, even though they have the app installed.
I'm with TMobile, I have the country codes in front of the numbers, I closed and reopened the app, recreated the contact in my contact list, and some numbers are not showing up on WhatsApp and it's driving me crazy. You can't add a contact directly in the app, they need to be saved in the phone first. I don't know what else to do, especially since there is no valid reason for it not to work.
Do you have any solutions to suggest?
Configuration: Mac OS X / Safari 535.7
