Hello,
I have an Ibanez Montage guitar that has a printed circuit board (chorus effects, preamp, etc.)

My question: I need to change my AA batteries (1.5 volts) more often than for my other guitars powered by a 9-volt battery... Can I replace them with a 9-volt battery?
(I read there might be a difference in amperage, but I'm not sure I understood everything...)

I know nothing about guitars, but I do know about electricity ^^
And I don't think it's going to be possible...
First of all, your 4 x 1.5V batteries give 6V, so a 9V battery might fry the electronic components of your guitar.
Also, the capacity of a 9V battery is much lower than that of 4 x 1.5V batteries (this is roughly related to the size of the batteries), so even if it worked, your 9V battery would deplete much faster than the 1.5V batteries.
However, if your batteries are AAA (R03), you can switch to AA (R06), which have a larger capacity, so they'll last longer (about 2 to 3 times), but you'll need to change the holder because AA batteries are bigger than AAA. -

Your 4 batteries provide 6 volts if they are in series, which I assume, or 3 volts, even 1.5 volts depending on how they are connected... In any case, a 9-volt battery will overload the machine and burn something out in the short term...!

Yes, I had a feeling...
Is there a way to check if the electronic circuit could withstand 9 volts without testing it live (because if it doesn't work, we might have actually burned something) - so testing it with a device (but which one?)...
To be complete: I used Lithium batteries ("Ultimate Lithium" from Energizer) that were 1.80 Volts - according to my voltmeter (being AA rated at 1.5 Volts on the packaging)... So we get to 4x1.80=7.2 Volts... But from there to dare to go up to 9 Volts, it's a step I don't dare to take... When it’s burned out, it’s burned out...

In short, it's better not to risk it… especially since the 9V is lower (not in Volts but in Amperage, if I understand correctly… my physics class is far behind me, I admit!)…
