Set up Free APN on BlackBerry Torch 9800

Solved

Hello,

I got my free SIM card yesterday, calls work here but not the SMS, and I don't know how and where to configure the internet and MMS APNs. The free mobile site provides the APNs: free for internet and for MMS, APN: mmsfree and MMSC http://mms.free.fr
It is not possible to subscribe to the blackberry option with free at the moment.

Thank you in advance.

Long live FREE!!!

    Hello,

    I'm in the same situation.
What I know is how to enter the internet APN:
    menu->options->Device->Advanced System Settings->TCP IP->
    APN Settings Enabled (check)
    APN: free

There you go, but apparently to connect to the internet via the BB, you need to subscribe to the BB option by doing:
menu->options->Device->Advanced System Settings->host routing table-> click the BB key and -> register now. You will receive a confirmation message.
This apparently will not be active until Friday the 20th.

As for MMS, I couldn't find where to enter all the APN data...

In the APN settings, you also need to enter a login and password:
      free

This does not unlock the browser but allows access to the App World (tested on a Bold 9700 since last week)

Do we know the password? And is the login free?

Hello, I have a BB Torch 9800. I've encountered the same issues as you. To get internet and messaging, you just need to subscribe to the BB option in your Free customer area (1 € nonetheless!).

I've just run the tests: internet, MMS, and messaging (2 on my BB) are working.

    Have a good day.

bonjour andre7434, how did you set up your messaging on your BB 9800 with Free Mobile? I subscribed to the option the day before yesterday but I can't create a messaging account either via http://free.blackberry.com/ or directly from the BB... can you help me?

The only thing I did was modify the APN in options; terminal; advanced system settings; TCP IP; in there replace the APN with "free" (without the quotes of course).
The messaging was already set up with my former operator (Bouygues) and I didn't touch it.

    Hello,

I have the same problem with my BlackBerry. To get the internet, you need to download Opera Mini, it works very well after that.

As for the MMS, I still haven't found a solution.

It is possible to activate the BlackBerry option for 1 euro on the Free Mobile website; just go to your account, then manage my account, and finally activate the famous option.

    Hello,

My husband and I are with Free (I'm on Blackberry and he’s on HTC). Before, we could send each other MMS. When he changed his HTC phone, he reconfigured the settings with the new parameters (IP address instead of text). Since then, he can send and receive them. However, I can no longer send or download the attachments of the MMS that I can receive.

How can I configure my BB to send again or download the attachments that I receive?

Thank you in advance for your help.

you go to options, then terminal, then advanced system settings, and finally TCP IP. And there you check everything and set APN: Free, and the password the same

    Hello!

    New information:

All Blackberries that do not have OS6 may encounter a problem with the browser due to compatibility issues with Free Mobile.

Download Opera Mini for Blackberry, making sure to properly configure the APN.

However, I'm experiencing network bugs. I can perfectly receive 3G from Free continually, but several times a day, despite having 5 bars of signal, I am unable to make or receive calls (call failed), the same goes for SMS (it shows the red clock searching) and internet.

This has been happening to me for 3 days, then after a few hours, everything goes back to normal, and I receive all my SMS at once.
Does anyone have the same issue or a solution?
    2
  11. Zamal974

Yes, that's normal because they are configured for the Blackberry BIS
I have BeWeather (weather app) which I can modify the connection even through TCP/IP but it doesn't work... as soon as I have a WIFI connection, it's all set

I don't know if anyone is familiar with Nomandio (app for FREE hotspot) but with my FREEWIFI credentials, as soon as I get near a FREEBOX, the Blackberry connects automatically via WIFI :D

I know Nomadio, it works very well. Also for Neufbox wifi, if you have a code.

The problem for NEUF WIFI is that it doesn't recognize SFR WIFI even though it's the same BOX!

To have internet on your BB, it is imperative that it has OS 6, as earlier versions do not work.
To download OS6, you need to do it with your PC using "BlackBerry Desktop Software." This requires connecting your BB to the PC with a USB cable.

Of course, we must not forget to mention that OS6 is not made for all models!!!

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

However, for the BlackBerry, it seems to be quite a hassle; I don’t know where to enter these APN, MMSC settings... The website doesn’t have the "procedure."
I contacted technical support, but they don't have an answer yet???

Thank you Erwan for your reply,

I had already tried this trick, entering free as the internet APN, without success.
I think we need to wait until it's possible to activate the BB option.
But I hope the MMS configuration will be automatic.

Today again, no changes to the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS). It's starting to be long awaited!
A page will also be put online (when?) for the automatic configuration of BBs -> http://mobile.free.fr/assistance/7.html

I have a Torch 9860 and I also had difficulty accessing the internet.
By entering the APN free and using Opera, it works very well.
    Google Maps also works.
Just need to be patient for the BB option, customer service didn't have a date to give me as of the 25th.

It seems that as of today, no BlackBerry (apart from those sold by Free) has been able to connect. I have been scouring the web in vain for days... I'm losing hope.
I have a Bold 9000; if someone finds something, thank you to them.

Honestly, it's not that I'm happy to see you all struggling, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one in my situation!

So if I summarize, nobody has had internet access without Opera, and no one has managed to send MMS among those who have a Blackberry! And nobody knows when we will have the Blackberry option either... Well, thankfully it's all without commitment, lol.
