In the case of an LCD, it could be a connectivity issue, a soldering problem, the RGB filter........., in the case of a CRT, there are also many causes. I’ve seen a lot of problems with so-called "dry" soldering that give way due to the heat generated. In 50% of cases, the problem is on the CRT board (a power resistor that has smoked) or, more seriously, an electrode of the tube that has shorted or gone open circuit, and then the tube is dead.
