Hello,
I just came back from vacation, plugged in the charger for my laptop, and "Oh joy, oh surprise," my HP Pavilion DV7 is no longer charging its battery with the message "0% available (plugged in, not charging)."
So without further ado, I checked the forums and tried the various methods suggested:
- removing the battery while leaving it plugged in, then putting the battery back in
- updating the BIOS
- resetting the power settings
nothing worked.
At the moment I put the battery back in or when I plug in the charger, the little light with the lightning bolt (battery charge indicator) blinks 3 times then stays on for 1 or 2 seconds (the battery indicator on the desktop says "0% available, plugged in, charging") then nothing and back to "0% available (plugged in, not charging)."
Do you have any idea? Virus? Problem with the battery?
Thanks in advance.

Try this, I had the same problem on an Acer: you turn on your computer on AC power, unplug it then turn it off, remove your battery and press the power button for 30 seconds or more, then put the battery back in, plug it back into AC power, and turn your computer on normally, you should see the charging light again.
