Toshiba Satellite P300-27Z stuck on BIOS Solved

Question

Hello,

I was given a Toshiba Satellite P300-27Z laptop that freezes at startup on the boot screen. Pressing the F2 key no longer provides access to the BIOS setup (it remains stuck on "accessing BIOS, please wait").

Do you have any diagnostic ideas?

Configuration: Toshiba Satellite P300-27Z / Windows seven / Firefox 3.6.13

I've already found the solution
1- unplug the battery and the power cable
2- press the power button for almost a minute
3- plug in the power cable (without connecting the battery)
4- press the power button and the "backspace delete to the left" key (both at the same time) for almost a minute
5- turn off your PC
6- turn on your PC by clicking several times on F8

and there you go, your PC will work again

First of all, thank you for your responses.

To enter the BIOS, you need to press the F2 key, which is not working as the screen gets stuck on "TOSHIBA Leading Innovation >>>".

I have already tried the F5 or F8 keys, but that doesn't yield any results since we haven't even reached the reading of the boot sector information on the hard drive.

This laptop is equipped with 2 SATA hard drives of 320 Go, which I have successfully tested on my desktop.

I already tried using the F8 key, but the freeze occurs before the detection of this key (so it does not work).

I also tried booting from the recovery DVDs or from a diagnostic CD, without success...

I see that you are not a beginner
so I suggest installing another hard drive with an OS on it and placing it in the Toshiba to see the result

a test for your motherboard and/or your BIOS!!

I had tried to boot with a bootable Linux CD (Ubuntu Live CD) and with Ultimate Boot CD, but nothing worked: no boot from the CD or HDD...

That's why I think it's more likely to be a motherboard problem or a corrupted BIOS issue...

I have an idea that comes to mind, I don't have many to be honest! Lol

1) Have you tried unplugging your PC's power supply several times each time you start the PC so that eventually it has to start and ask you how you want to boot?

2) Remove the battery from the PC (the motherboard battery) for a few seconds, turn on the PC and then turn it off to replace this battery! This is for the BIOS; I don't need to tell you that, you probably guess it.

That's what I have for now.

Thank you for your response.  Good idea, but I think we're going to have to take everything apart to access the battery (it's a laptop!)...  What a hassle!

I have already tried the successive start/stop, but nothing has changed. I tried using only one of the two memory sticks, then the other, and finally both, without success...

I had already tried to boot from UBCD, but since it gets stuck on the BIOS, it's impossible...

I took apart the laptop, then disconnected the battery for about ten minutes.
All that's left is to reassemble it...

I am facing the same issue, unable to enter the BIOS,
it doesn't respond after booting.
RAM and HDD have been tested on another PC and work well...
So is there a way to flash the BIOS at startup of the laptop?
because it's impossible to boot into an OS.

It was indeed the BIOS that crashed.

After reassembling, the laptop started up again.

However, it was necessary to short-circuit the motherboard terminals where the battery connects (not the battery terminals!), in order to fully discharge the capacitors.

On the other hand, it had additional driver issues and possibly a virus problem as well.

The problem is thus solved as far as I'm concerned!

P.S.: I think that Vemout and Steph-Arpaj have the same issue as me: BIOS crash.

Hello,  I did the test and it didn't work. I still have a black screen.  Moreover, I have the same symptom with an ACER 5810T. I removed the BIOS battery and still got the same result.  Should I replace the motherboards?

Try to discharge the capacitors on the motherboard, once the battery is disconnected, by touching the two terminals of the battery connector on the motherboard with the tip of a screwdriver. This involves disassembling your Acer ... Otherwise, there’s always a shop not far from your home that can handle the repair ...

Hello everyone,  I know this thread is a bit old, but if it can help, why keep it to myself ;)  I had this issue (same symptoms) with a nb200. The solution I found, which I think will make a few people smile ;) worked wonderfully for me, and I've been using the nb200 for over 2 years now without encountering any problems. The advantage of the method is that you don't need to open the beast, and on top of that, it doesn't cost much!! lol So, here's what I did to unlock the laptop that was stuck on the "toshiba..." logo: 1 - Go to the Toshiba website and download the latest version of the BIOS 2 - Put the laptop in the freezer for at least 30 minutes 3 - Restart the laptop while it's cold (for me, it restarted as if I had never had a problem) 4 - Update the BIOS with the latest version  As I said, I think this will make a few people smile, but in the meantime, this method saved my stuck laptop (I tried to use it after the cold treatment without updating the BIOS. It worked until I turned it off. When I turned it off, it got stuck again on the logo, so I think the problem comes from the BIOS and that the update fixed the issue since the problem never came back). Just another solution that doesn't seem like much, but if it can unlock others ;)  Jack
