Where to watch a movie in original version with English subtitles? Solved

Hello,

I want to improve my English and for that, I'm looking for movies in English with English subtitles only. It's a real headache to find a movie that meets both conditions.
If anyone knows a website, please let me know, or if there's another solution, like downloading a movie in English and having a subtitle software in English, does that exist???

In case some are still looking for ways to improve their English (movies/series in English, English subtitles), which is also my case :), there's a nice site I discovered recently (sorry in advance if it's old news!)

It's not the case for all movies or series (on the player, you can see "subtitles" in the bottom right corner, which also allows you to download the srt file) but it's true for most!

Hello,
You don’t need any special software for that. Any video player such as VLC can do it without any problem. You just need to choose the subtitle language in the menus.

There’s no need to look for movies with subtitles. You can find most subtitles available for free download on opensubtitles.org for example (make sure that the subtitles match your video exactly).
Unzip them in the same folder as your video so your video player can recognize them. If necessary, manually open the file (in VLC: Video>Subtitles>Open Subtitle File) or rename it to exactly match the name of the video file.

As back2analog says, VLC works very well, you just need to have the .avi file and the .srt file, named the same.
I have a complementary solution because with VLC you can only view the file on your computer, it doesn't create a new video.
To be able to save your future subtitled video on your external disk and watch it wherever you want, you can use any video converter (Super, Mediacoder...), or better AVI ReComp (it only works with .avi files, but that's the majority of videos on the net). You just need to load the subtitles and start the conversion (the operations are intuitive, or you can watch a tutorial). It takes a little time, but I find it's worth it. The converter creates a new video that will have the subtitles integrated. And that's it!

If you want to watch movies in English with subtitles, you can indeed use the VLC software, which is very good and free. However, I recommend downloading it from the official website.
